Wonder 3 Revisited and Even More of Osamu Tezuka’s Works

He have only 9 hours left and $12K short.  If this campaign fails then I am going to be real disappointed.  I was legitly hyped for this.  I was hoping that a huge last minute surge of backers will come to the rescue.  And I guess I am still clinging to that small bit of hope because I am still posting this link.

Here is a drawing of Bokko from Wonder 3.  Yes.  That is a gun.  A time reversal gun.  And yes.  Bokkok clearly does have leg game.  Back in the the day, people would be all like, “Dem gams!”  Bokko is also winning int both ear and tail game.  She is like... winning ALL the games!

A Kickstarter is currently near its end and needs your help!  It is for  the printing of all three volumes of Wonder 3 in English!  All three volumes will be made with hardcovers by Digital Manga.  This will be a great opportunity to bring a Tezuka classic to the Americas in a language that I can share with others!

You can reserve yourself a copy of the first volume in print for only $25.  That or you can reserve yourselves all three volumes on print for $70 (like I did)!  If you are a manga/anime fan or a Osamu Tezuka fan then this is your chance to help shine some attention on some of his less represented creations!

Welcome back! It’s been a while since we were here so I am glad to be sharing the Wonder 3 Kickstarter! 

The year is 196X. The Milky Way Confederation has been watching us and are having a meeting to decide if we should be allowed to continue to help ou planet which seems to be in a perpetual state of war, or just destroy us with an anti-proton bomb. Luckily for us, they decide that they should gather more information first, and send the “Wonder 3″ to Earth for 1 year to live among us and learn more. This team of humanoid aliens disguise themselves as Earthly animals: Captain Bokko as a rabbit, Nokko as a horse, and Pukko as a duck. Once on earth they run into a pair of human brothers, and there the adventures begin.

For this Kickstarter, digitalmanga has decided that this series the HARDCOVER treatment, which means this may be your opportunity for some very nice looking Tezuka work to spice up your bookshelf. The series is three volumes of about 200+ pages each, which means about 680 newly translated pages of Tezuka for us to enjoy.

The stretch goal this time around is for another Tezuka work called “The Film Lives On” which deals with Miyamoto Musashi and his dream to animate the most “alive” character that has ever been seen. In his journey he suffers adversity both the falling out with his best friend and animation partner Sasaki Kojiro, and the destruction of his work and eyesight at the hands of the Yakuza family of Otsu, the girl he loves. As they say in Hollywood, the show must go on, and Musashi will let nothing stop him.

The campaign overview is as follows:

Gardena, CA Digital Manga, Inc., (DMI) is set to blaze across the digital galaxy this September with their next crowdfunding campaign to print the highly in­demand title Wonder 3 (a.k.a. The Amazing Three). This 3 ­volume title is the latest in DMI's efforts to bring the "God of Manga" Osamu Tezuka's books to readers of English everywhere. Previous successful campaigns included raising funds to publish and print Swallowing the Earth, Barbara, Alabaster, Clockwork Apple, and Storm Fairy. Each volume in Wonder 3 is over 200 pages long and will be printed in hardcover for the first time. The Kickstarter launches in September and will run for 30 days. Wonder 3 KS Wonder 3 takes place in an alternate Earth in the year 196X and the world is overrun with war and violence. The Galactic Federation consisting of all the advanced species of the universe convene to decide the future of Earth, but due to a lack of information they decide to send an elite team, Wonder 3, to observe human species for one year and determine whether or not humans are worthy of saving. Upon landing on Earth, the three members of Wonder 3 – Bokko, Nokko, and Pukko – disguise themselves as animals and come across the two Hoshi brothers who defend humanity in their own way. With a time limit of one year, what can Wonder 3 learn from the Hoshi brothers about life on Earth?
