"so like riddle me this? this is my second place, because my first one burned down. do you guys have a thing for breaking into apartments?" kate had started paying more attention, had set a few more traps to make sure people didn't come into her place without her knowing, that and she had a camera set up that connected to her phone. she got notifications for movement. it could be a pain when she was watching lucky, but it was great for times like this. she stood at the entrance to her living room, leaning in the doorframe looking in at lex. the woman's back was turned to her, looking at trophies on a shelf, but that didn't make her any less recognizable.

"that's because it hasn't." gaja knew she should know the room, but it meant nothing to her. there was nothing that was familiar in this child's bedroom, some other child had occupied it after herself, and then after them, the apartment had fallen into disrepair with almost every bit of the other family's life still remaining. "it was condemned, but it feels more like a tomb. should be a good place for us to hide out for a bit, wait out this storm in the places that aren't rotted."

it's a struggle to deciper what came first , the anger , or the shame . the god is sharp of senses , they should have seen that coming . there is no telling how long loki had eyeballed the blade she'd propelled from her hand , vibrant green seemed to burn a little darker for a moment . eventually they pluck it from the table they'd lounged their legs across with a lurch ; the force behind it would have caused temporary damage had her aim been intentional , and landed a mere two inches to the left to meet loki's thigh .
they twirl it in hand , chewing on their thoughts in hopes it might steer their mind away from embarassment . apologetic or not , does she expect loki to grin and hand over her blade , wafting their hand dismissively as if all is well and glady forgotten ? expect , probably not . hope ? more than likely . they make another twirl of the blade before idly throwing it upwards . it turns midair , the handle makes a slow and steady return to their palm until . . . it's gone , engulfed in a gleam of green light . the god smiles childishly , and noisily crosses their leg over the other , " thank you , i shall take ever so much care of it . " they speak with an overbearing innocent lilt , though they grin and bare teeth that tells of anything but contentment . loki settles in their satisfaction , and gladly festers in of yet unyeilding vexation .

He's sure she means the words to be comforting. But it has almost the opposite fact. He's so tired. He's been falling apart for almost a century. He didn't want another 1000 years of putting himself back together. But he knows better than to say that.
So he leans in and presses his forehead to hers, heaving a soft sigh. "Thank you for being here through the process. It means a lot to me."
