"Just stay a little longer. Please." hi zelda :)
the twilight that combs through the grass has a different sense of familiarity now. it feels like the beginning of something; dusk, and something quieter. life, a new one, but quieter. the pace isn’t any slower——— not with the rebuilding she ought to do. projects she must see through. 𝗍𝗂𝗆𝖾 𝗂𝗌 𝗈𝖿 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝖾𝗌𝗌𝖾𝗇𝖼𝖾, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘻𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘢 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺. or so she thinks when she finds herself dipping her feet in ordon’s spring, hardly paying any mind to the crests on their hands glowing.
𝘇𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗮 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨; a field, wildflowers eager to bloom for them. his words, faint as they are, leave a trail of what his life had been here, small glimpses zelda fills in with comments on her own. it’s not like her to be ungrateful of her upbringing, but sitting here, plain dress spilled atop the grass, the last of today’s dying light, the first constellations peeking… she looks at link and understands. she understands why he came back, but he doesn’t seem to see himself staying for good. not after… everything.
“ everyone was warmer than i expected, ” a bit absentminded from happiness, zelda confesses as much. the hands on her lap move to wrap around herself. “ 𝗂𝗇 𝖺𝗇𝗈𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗋 𝗅𝗂𝖿𝖾… 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦. ” a soft, pensive sigh, the grass crunching as she attempts to stand up, “ my apologies, i would hate to overstay my welcome——— ” attempts, until he speaks up. she obeys, more so out of surprise than actually acknowledging his quiet plea. she relaxes again, curious. says, “ would that be okay ? ” when really, she has already agreed. her smile confirms it.
a beat passes, and she flattens the wrinkles on her dress. “ you should know, link, ” the softest she’s ever called out his name. today, at least. her hand falls on the back of his, giving it a small pat; she wants to return his kindness. “ …𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭. ”
