You spend the whole of Outrageous Fortune thinking Wolf doesn't respect Loretta's criminal abilities because she's a girl and then you watch Westside and realise he's just trying to stop her from becoming his mother. Rita scared Wolf. I mean the woman tried to kill him as an infant. And Loretta is just like her which scares him even worse. He refuses to let her become a criminal like the rest of them because the similarities are too glaring. From the looks to the appearance and the attitude. Then you add the aptitude for crime and the lack of empathy? His mother always took it too far and he doesn't want his daughter ending up like her. The difference is Rita did all she did for the people she cares about while Loretta is only in it for herself.
Loretta scares the daylights out of him. That's why he warns people about her (or at least Nicky... I don't remember him warning anybody else). Not just because of what he knows she's capable of but because he knows what his mother was capable of. I mean the lengths Rita went to end the Frankie Figgs mess. And you know Loretta is just as willing to do something like that. The only thing is she values self preservation above all else. So she would drag every one around her down and save her own ass.
Wolf was trying to save her from herself. Can you imagine him seeing Rita in everything Loretta does and trying so damn hard to stop it? Because he knows how it ended for Rita and that hurt him. Then to see one of his precious kids on that path? It makes the scenes in 'Most Foul, Strange and Unnatural' when he's yelling at her and later when he begs her not to go through the job so much more sad.
Have you ever thought about all the West kids wondering around out there with their true parentage unknown? I mean Brandon's isn't unknown anymore but he definitely wants nothing to do with his family. And who can blame him? Because of his parents' mess he ends up unknowingly sleeping with his sister. Wolf and Cheryl think Jane is their first grandchild but by the time she comes around there's already 2 of them out there. One's Van's and the other's Jethro's and Mrs Hong has her husband thinking they're his. (Does he ever realise they aren't half Chinese... we'll never know) And speaking of Jethro he's the worst offender. He's already got the one from Mrs Hong. Then there's the twins he has with his father's girlfriend and poor Van thinks they're his. All these kids out there is just another Brandon and Pascalle situation waiting to happen
