So having not written any post since the last few months as I sit here in my office here I decided to 'Penn' down my thoughts about whats transpired in the last few months.Â
1. College end
So college ended! Woah! I mean college was supposed to be the biggest thing which mattered to me ever in life till then and then suddenly you end on a full stop with nothing to look beyond. But more troubling than ending college was the fact that a particular night made me realize that I virtually stand alone in the world out there, friendships never get out in the real world. You won't have people sticking with you ever. College wasn't really the best investments of time I made in life. So point noted. Moving on ...Â
After helping my mom with a bunch of her career guidance startups (built couple of RoR and JS apps) , I decided to go for a much needed break to the parvati valley just to clear my head of everything happening in the 'middle earth'. The most epic trip of my life till date. I leave you with a couple of photographs,

The trip did irk a few people. But then, my time in India was already over. People live on their own preconceived notions which I am no-one to go and change. All the best with that.
2. Freelancing.Â
1. Rooting and developing a custom ROM for a Chinese Android Netbook.Â
The rooting was pretty straightforward. Developing the custom ROM did take me atleast 4 days straight. All in all a really really good experience.Â

2. Rooting the iBall 3g 9728 (http://www.iball.co.in/Product/3G-9728/522)
This was good experience too. Took me about a complete day to figure out everything about the tools. This is the flagship device of iBall. So, nothing like rooting it and understanding its internals!

To root the tablet use, SRSRootSetup.exe - its a chinese program, make sure you click the big green button on the right when rooting the application.Â
To extract the ROM from the device, use the MTK droid tools and make atleast a few backups. The backups of my device are inside the MTKDroidTools/backup folder. Make sure you do the same for your device first, or just make multiple copies of mine!Â
The iBall 3G 9728 has a MT6577 processor. So you need the USB drivers for that too. Its there in the tools! :) Be sure to run a benchmarking suite on your device to make sure your processor is the same!
3. UPenn
So I joined the Fall program of the EMBS graduate program at the University of Pennsylvania, though it really wasn't my top choice. As it turns out, I am here in Philadelphia trying to juggle my awesome courses! Its been a pretty splendid month so far. Getting a TA early on, has been great! I love my database class going on. Heres a thanks to Pranav, Varun, Rohit and his brother, Neel, Arun, Karan, Udit and prabhjot to have helped me settle in initially.Â
I still gotta buy a good phone, expect pictures next time! The girls I tell you!
