Currently feeling overwhelmingly endeared by the concept of Will “rosary around his neck” Smith not using pride tape last year & not being able to pinpoint what exactly it is about the entire situation that made him feel a bit put-out & strange.
The annoying, scratchy feeling of slow-moving guilt he probably felt when he took his usual safe, predictable place next to Mack in the locker room & realized in live-time that Mack’s stick was absolutely doused in color.
As was Toff’s, as was Wenny’s. And how suddenly the “easy” don’t-rock-the-boat path he thought he was taking began to feel complicated as hell.
Fast forward a year later & he’s committed to doing the brave thing, the choice in theory made infinitely easier since all his guys agreed to stand shoulder to shoulder on it anyway.
But then he’s once again taking his usual safe, predictable place next to Mack in the locker room & there’s a hum of anxiety pressing against every ridge in his ribcage that he can’t explain and hates himself a bit for.
But then there’s Mack- rainbow tape in hand, uncharacteristically quiet and absolutely pretending not to be watchful pressing their shoulders together just a smidge more intently than normal to get his attention.
And in the next breathe he’s rattling out a plan on how he wants to place his tape- totally different than the year before, tucked up near the handle to “switch it up” (and avoiding the most normal and obvious placement of the blade entirely)
And Will is disgustingly grateful and takes the tiny lifeline for what it is, chirping Mack for his poor wrap job as he takes the tape and entwines his stick in the exact same way
(And if his hands are shaking a bit while he does it well, there’s only person sitting close enough to catch it anyway)

i love thinking about mack nesting :( potentially overdone but idc
he's scared to go into a nesting store alone, is unsure what he'd even want to buy. he finds himself so, so happy with just one of will's hoodies and a soft blanket he bought online (not even a nesting-specific one, just a regular throw). he puts one regular pillow behind his back, protection, and one in front, to hug tightly to his chest. will's hoodie crushed right under his head and nose, blanket tucked around him securely, safe under his comforter. it's perfect, as far as he's concerned, if a little sparse. it's his.
omega nests are sacred and private. people occassionally share images of them online, omega influencers and educational channels, but mack feels those are probably exaggerated. he wishes it were better, but it works for him. he's not embarrassed, exactly, but he's protective. no one is allowed in his bedroom, not to see or touch his nest.
on roadies, he doesn't nest at all. the few other omegas in the league tend to pack an extra luggage with nesting materials: a portable nest. mack does not do this. for one, he doesn't like reminding people he's an omega if he can help it. he especially never wants to be extra or bothersome. besides, he doesn't need it. his instincts are satisfied having will so close.
the first road trip after will's injury hits mack hard.
having will gone and hurt is already trying. for once in his life, mack wishes he weren't on the ice. that he could skip roadies and games and practice altogether and just curl up with will until he's fully restored to health. their relationship is so fresh and new, the loss of will a constant ache.
& everyone thinks he's just upset about will and he is but it's so much worse than that. without his alpha, without a nest, his body is shutting down. meanwhile, will hasn't even seen his nest yet.
so, mack decides the only way to settle his rattled nerves, to promise his hindbrain will really is safe & healing, is to bundle him up in mack's nest. warm and drenched in mack's pheromones.
when macklin opens his bedroom door for will, and he sees mack's nest for the first time...his heart clenches. it's so barren. absolutely nothing like his mother's or sister's nests. their nests have padded perimeters, plush blankets, a million pillows. mack's just looks like a regular bed, mostly. just one teal hoodie, a #2 emblazoned on the chest. will looks around the room, half wondering if his nest is actually tucked away in some corner, and his bed is just a bed. it's not.
he schools his expression and his scent, not that mack is particularly apt in decoding either. mack's face is wide open, shyly tinged with treacherous hope.
"you wanna come in? is it okay?"
"yeah, of course, baby. your nest is perfect. i'd love to come in."
mack glows at the praise and tugs will over, gently manhandling him where he wants him. he winds up on his back, on his usual side of the bed. mack pulling at his sheets and blanket, arranging everything exactly how he wants. he tucks the extra blanket half over will and half over himself. will feels at it. it's soft, but thin. definitely not nesting grade. nothing in his nest is. just standard bed linens haphazardly thrown together into some approximation of a nest. they don't retain scenting as well. he can see worn, frayed edges where mack must've rubbed the fabric raw, where he might've chewed on the corners during his heat.
mack's purr fills the room as he settles against will's good shoulder (only after reassurances from will that he isn't bothering the bad one at all, that it's not bothering him that much anyway with his pain killers and the massage the trainers gave him earlier).
will slowly starts gifting mack new things for his nest. another blanket, which he washed and scented. a plush shark, which made mack grin widely and his fingers toy with the fin happily. a new pillow. more of will's hoodies & t-shirts.
with will temporarily off the roster, he manages to convince mack to pack a portable nest. some new items, his tried & true blanket. he's too stubborn to admit it, but it certainly helps. he facetimes will and falls asleep to the sound of his voice, wrapped up in his scent. it's almost like he's there.
however, mack's not stupid, so he catches on pretty quickly. he's not mad about the development of his nest, it definitely feels much nicer than mack ever imagined it could. every fiber is soaked with will's scent and it's so comfortable. he's proud to have made something will spends so much time in, that will cares enough to keep building it with him.
but he also feels overwhelmingly seen. like will has pinned him under a microscope for acute observation. that maybe he thinks mack's not very good at this omega thing at all, and he has to take over. that mack is too sensitive to take the criticism, so he has to be discreet about it.
it comes out at a bad time. he's frustrated with the team's performance, with his performance. they're on a losing streak and it's up to mack to dig them out of this hole. but he keeps stumbling.
he's tired and will is late to pick him up from the airport. will's being so fucking nice, too. he quietly fumes in the passenger seat, lets will carry his suitcase inside, and tries to keep his cool.
his mood flares when he sees a brand-new nesting mattress pad, still in it's box, on the kitchen counter. he can reads the words across the side, takes in the elegant script & premium packaging. its one of those ready made nest perimeters, stuffed edges piled high for protection. a ready made nest. a store bought nest. because obviously mack can't manage it on his own.
everything else will has gifted him has had an air of plausible deniability. this has none.
"if you hate my nest so much you can just say so. you don't have to be a fucking dick about it."
will goes stock-still. "what?"
mack moves towards his bedroom swiftly. will follows, frantic.
"mack?"
he starts roughly tearing at the bedding, tossing anything will gave him to the floor. he ignores the ache in his chest, the nausea roiling in his stomach, the burning behind his eyes. his throat feels tight.
"if i'm not a good enough omega for you, you can say it, will. or just fucking leave. no one's keeping you here."
"mack, what the fuck? stop doing that." he wraps his hand around mack's wrist, ignoring his efforts to shake it off.
"let go of me, will." he snaps, practically growling.
"no, mack, what the fuck is going on?" he relinquishes his grip, fingers still loosely clasped. he's surprised mack doesn't throw him off.
mack refuses to meet his eye, silent for a long moment. his chest rises and falls with labored breath. "you hate my nest." he mutters.
will can feel the distress pouring off of mack. at will's 'disapproval', at the destruction of his nest.
"i don't hate your nest, sweetheart. i love your nest."
"you bought a nest-in-a-box, will." the anger has dissipated into dejection, into sadness. will thinks this is somehow infinitely worse.
"mack, i don't-" he hears a sniffle, and ducks his head to see the glimmer of a tear sliding down mack's cheek. he acts on instinct, gathering mack into his chest. he cradles mack's head against his good shoulder and squeezes.
"mack, baby," he breathes. "i don't hate your nest. i promise, i wouldn't lie to you, mack."
mack shakes his head, so will continues.
"i'm serious. i just-" he tries to figure out how to phrase it, how to avoid hurting mack's feelings any worse. "you just didn't have a lot of things. which is fine! and i should've talked to you. but since we're courting, it's normal to, like, give your omega things to nest with."
"and i should've talked to you. i'm sorry. it's your nest, it's not up to me. and it's not a nest-in-a-box, it's just extra padding. like, extra protection? you don't have to use it, obviously." he rambles on. "or anything i've given you. whatever you want, mack. i like it because it's yours. and you want me there and that's all that matters. i didn't mean to hurt you, or make you feel bad. you're perfect."
mack pulls back from will's arms slowly, and will worries this is it. he offended mack, overstepped a very personal boundary. made him feel like a bad omega, when will thinks that couldn't be further from the truth.
mack rubs his eyes.
"you have to help me rebuild it."
will's heart soars. "done."
a small, closed-mouth smile. a start.
"i'll consider the other thing. maybe."
"don't even worry about it." will grins, pressing a kiss to mack's cheek before gathering discarded blankets in his arms, carefully arranging them exactly how mack had them last. mack clambers onto the mattress and drags him inside.
we need to discuss more about this video cuz its so…. the way will leans down and whispers to mack (???)…the way mack doesnt gaf as hes bent over …the way it looks so natural… like…. okay…
they don't know each other until mack's family moves into the summer house across from will's.
when will steps out of the car, the first thing he notices is this chestnut haired boy. looks about will's age. he stares for a moment, cheeks going pink like a bunny, until the green eyed boy meets his blue eyes.
they don't talk the whole summer except for small waves and smiles. sometimes they see each other through their windows. maybe while they are eating breakfast.
the next summer they actually talk. mack helps will unpack. they're over at each other's house everyday.
but when the summer ends, they don't talk. text convos run dry, calls come in less. until the next summer.
will knows it will be their last here. both are heading off to college, mack settled back in vancouver, will at BC.
until mack tells will one night that he's actually going to BU, following aiden's footsteps. will's ecstatic.
mack sees will a lot more and their relationship blooms. i'd like to think mack pursues medicine, or something adjacent. maybe will does it with him, or 'communications'.
mack goes to the smiths' thanksgiving, and they go to both christmas's because will's family holds it on the actual day, mack's on christmas eve.
That was probably the one Wrestlemania where every right person won. Even if WWE did most of the things wrong these last few months, in that one night they gave everyone what they deserved. And I mean superstars.
Seth’s passion and work ethic made him worthy of taking the title off of Lesnar on the grandest stage of them all.
Becky made herself happen, and she earned every bit of honor that she got last night.
Kofi winning means so much. He represents diversity. He’s a hope for people of color. He’s the perfect example of staying true to your craft and passion, and one day you’ll get the recognition you deserve.
Roman got to have the feel good come back moment after having to fight for his life. No one deserve it more than him. He’s been the backbone of this company for these last few years.
Finn got to shine by dipping into the biggest attraction that comes with his name, and he’s got a title which he has deserved for so long.
Saying all of that, even though I’m happy for these superstars and commend WWE for doing things right even for just one night, I can’t help but feel very bitter and sad that WWE AND the fans never had Dean Ambrose’s back. Despite the fact that he gave his all to this company, in the most professional manner possible. Not one scandal, not one fuck up, no days off, working injured until his injury became so bad he had to have two surgeries, working most matches on the calendar, doing every meet and greet and socializing despite having a shy personality, YET, he was never good enough. For fans or WWE.
Everyone has backed this up that he’s a gem to have in the locker room. He’s a true work horse. A complete professional. I have never heard anyone say a bad thing bout him. Yet when he was the most over member of the WWE locker room post Shield, WWE did their best to sabotage his momentum every single time. When he was finally given the title cuz WWE had no other choice, fans turned on him and blamed him for lame as fuck booking.
If Dean was an asshole, or arrogant, or selfish, I wouldn’t honestly feel this way. But he deserved to be standing there with his brothers having his own moments. During his whole career while WWE rewarded his Shield mates with multiple moments (which they deserved no doubt), he never even got to have a proper Mania match. He always stepped in and carried this company on his back, but he was paid dust whenever it was time to give him something in return.
I am so glad Dean is done with WWE. As his fan, I strongly feel he was never truly appreciated and always taken forgranted by both the fans and the management. He has given his all to this business unselfishly, and its time he looks out for himself. People who are angry at him for leaving should open their eyes and realize nothing matters more than Dean’s happiness.
Wherever goes Dean Ambrose, I hope he’s appreciated the way he deserve it. WWE still is a company with ton of pros, but maybe its not a proper fit for someone like Dean.
Also no one come at me trying to say he was treated much better than those who never got to be on TV. Dean’s work ethic is not like any normal performer. The superstar of his caliber deserved so much more.

Off-topic but the day will smith hockey gets his first NHL hat-trick macklin celebrini may genuinely burst into tears at centre ice and I think we all need to be prepared for that
mack teaches science and will co-teaches english and theatre (he's also the baseball coach, ofc), and all their students think they hate each other.
firstly, because they have an ongoing prank war. will fills mack's cabinets with ping pong balls, mack replaces every writing utensil of will's with tiny rubber ducks. it becomes a famed thing. every spring, what will they do this time?
they chirp each other constantly. the students find their rivalry hilarious. mack hands out next semesters schedules to his homeroom students, says you got smith? that's brutal and gets a chorus of giggles in return.
every student has a crush on will. he's chill, but has clear expectations. no one wants to disappoint him, so they abide. he's funny and a great storyteller.
the kids like mack because he's so smart. it's a little intimidating sometimes, but he seems to just know everything. his specialties are space and marine biology. the kids treat him like an alexa, ask him increasingly convoluted and random questions in the middle of lecture.
mack wears a wedding ring, but never talks about his wife or kids the way the other teachers do. most of the students think he's gay, since he said the word 'partner' once and shut down follow up questions. as far as they know, will's single. neither of them have any personal pictures up, either. will has just one on his desk of a dog with a pink collar, her tongue hanging out and ears crooked.
one day will's teaching and takes off his sweater. his chain falls out over his white t-shirt and twenty eyes lock in on a silver band. he's immediately bombarded with questions. dude, you're married? will rolls his eyes, don't call me dude, i'm literally your teacher. someone else pipes up, he's avoiding the question. will sighs, why are you surprised? they respond with more questions, all over each other. what's her name, what does she do, why didn't you say anything? and will laughs at them, shakes his head, and settles in at his desk, end of discussion.
the other teachers obviously know the truth and find the whole situation amusing. they have no problem keeping the secret.
every year, they chaperone an international field trip for the seniors, along with a few other teachers and parents. the students who go report back. they bicker constantly. they've heard mr. celebrini call mr. smith an idiot more times than they can count, have seen mr. smith laugh in response every time.
one day will leaves his lunch at home, and someone catches mr. celebrini leaving half a sandwich and a fruit cup on his desk. another few weeks go by, and someone else sees them exit the same car??? will brushes it off easily. mr. celebrini's car is in the shop, so he rode in with me today. and it spreads like wildfire.
rumors fly that they're having an affair, cheating on their partners together. the kids try to investigate. they look on social media for their profiles and find nothing, try to ask other teachers but get told to focus on their schoolwork. they end up going right to the source. will dances around the questions, acts purposefully obtuse, and maneuvers their attention to a new topic seamlessly. they don't even realize they've been brushed off until later.
mack gets annoyed. he huffs, we talk about research in here all the time. i've taught you how to investigate a question. you realize marriage records are public, right?
the room goes quiet, and he realizes his mistake. they aren't in the closet, or afraid to talk about it. obviously their colleagues know. it just happened naturally, and keeping it a secret was fun. it was funny how students assumed they disliked each other, when that couldn't be further from the truth. they don't even try that hard, either. they eat lunch together every other day.
still, mack knows they will not be normal about this. and he doesn't want will to be blindsided, either.
he hears indiscreet and speedy typing on chromebook keyboards.
he groans, accepts defeat. he puts his head in his hands, hears rowdy teenagers gasping excitedly and passing a computer around.
whatever happened to privacy? he mumbles.
you just told us it's public record.
still.
it's nearly time for the bell to go off, so he doesn't bother wrangling them into order. just tells them to work on their projects and gets distracted yeahs in response.
it's only five minutes into next period when he gets a call on the interschool phone.
he can hear will's smile when he speaks. so, he drawls, a little birdie tells me we're married. almost two dozen little birdies, actually.
he can hear giggles in the background.
he smiles. oops
they share a room on field trips now and carpool to work more often. students report that mack fell asleep on will's shoulder on the plane, that they laugh together on the bus. that will is in charge of mack's plane ticket and passport.
the prank war is still standing, of course. will has a new picture on his desk of mack laying in the grass wearing a big grin, their dog sprawled on top of him, licking his face. they still chirp each other, but now they even share embarrassing stories about the other person, on occassion. like the windshield incident. will burning their weekly milk and cookies (due to undisclosed reasons) and their smoke detector would not turn off for so long that they waited it out in their backyard, bundled up against the late winter chill.
no one tells next year's freshmen. they have to figure it out for themselves just like everyone else.
mack is very touchy. leans into every embrace on the ice, every celly. sinks into it like a man starved. will loves it. loves the way mack just curls up on top of him, uses will like a personal pillow, taking what he needs without shame. lots and lots of cuddling. mack's arms around will's waist, chin hooked over his shoulder as he bakes. holding hands while will drives, resting on one of their laps. mack always stubbornly tightens his grip when will tries to pull away and shift gears. will's hand splayed on mack's lower back, or cupping his hip. mack's head on will's chest, his soft hair tickling will's chin. sometimes he moves, and it ends up in will's mouth, who sputters while mack just laughs, unhelpfully. kissing, of course. lots of kissing. mack straddling will's lap, hands tugging on his curls. will helping mack up onto the counter, standing between his spread legs, chests pressed together tightly, tongues in each other's mouths. they're touching nearly every second they're alone. in front of the team, they try to keep it down, no crazy pda that might make someone uncomfortable. but, little things. sleeping on each other's shoulders on the plane. bumping their shoulders together as they walk down the hallway. knocking knees on the bench. will's chest pressed to mack's back or side, as they orbit each other between plays.
words of affirmation
mostly mack receiving, mr. "i love getting compliments" (praise kink). pet names for sure. will for mack: sweetheart, baby, superstar, princess. mack for will: smitty, babe. (dude and bro also count here). speaking of praise, will's low voice in mack's ear, murmured words sending sparks down his spine. you're doing so good, baby, so perfect for me. you're so tight, mack, fuck. you're so pretty like this, sweetheart. can manifest in other ways for them, too. lots of i love you and i'm proud of you, but also sick pass, man and good form and you're a fuckin' beaut.
mack gives too, of course. most especially when will's not around, to friends or the media (see: "he's a special player, was drafted 4oa, etc.") doesn't let anyone forget just how good will is, how smart he is. recites his stats, did you know he had 71 points at BC?. gushes about will's banana bread and this new kind of chocolate he's making like he's a michelin chef. he's less direct. mack rants to will about how frustrating it is, some of the things they say about him, some of the questions they ask him. because he's such an amazing player and why aren't they talking about that? will smiles, and pats him on the thigh. s'okay, celly, as long as you think i'm good. mack frowns, you're the best.
acts of service
will's giving. planning dinners, spending hours on tiktok and reading articles to decide the best spot. somewhere cute, with food mack will like, and a good ambience. driving mack around. on the rare occasion they didn't sleep over, will picks up coffee first, mack's go-to order sitting and waiting in his cupholder. lifting mack's suitcase into the bed under the bus, even though he's perfectly capable of doing it himself. carrying their shared backpack onto the plane, saving their seat in the middle of the cabin: mack window, will aisle. will definitely believes in the sidewalk rule. princess treatment, always. after sex, cleaning him up gently, wiping away sweat and cum and lube from his stomach, between his thighs. keeping a water bottle ready on the nightstand. sometimes they shower, or take a bath, and mack leans into will so heavily, trying to nuzzle his head into will's neck or shoulder, its hard to lather the shampoo through his hair, but he makes do. helps him into his pajamas, tucks him under the covers.
mack does little things, too. grabs will's stick for him before practice. washes the dishes while will bakes. orders doordash while will drives. it's different, when will gets hurt. mack fusses in a way he usually doesn't. calls his dad to take a look, review will's plan of care, gets doctor recommendations, wants people rick knows and trusts, even though the trainers already provided a referral. helps will with rehab and training, holding the bands, checking his form. sets a timer on his phone for the ice packs and the heating pad. starts driving them around more. doesn't let him lift a finger, despite his protests.
gift giving
this one is the least present in their daily lives. when it comes to birthdays and holidays, though, they go all out. they know each other so well, it’s not hard to find what the other likes and needs. will keeps a running list in his notes app (password-protected, just in case) throughout the year of things he sees out and about or in instagram ads. when the time comes, he can perfectly curate a selection of gifts. each one he wraps himself, with the utmost care (and color-coordinated ribbon and paper, ofc).
mack treats gift-giving like it’s a game. he’s strategic about it, comes up with a game plan in the weeks before. he has an impressive memory and his favorite subject is will. he listens extra carefully to will throughout the day, watches what his eyes linger on in shops, what he picks up, what he puts down. waits until a month or so before the day to pick out his gifts, because will's attention span can be fickle, at times. whatever hobby he was obsessed with last month is old news by now; he’s already graduated to something else. unlike will, who plans out specific items, mack is a little more broad with his shopping list. has topics, categories, and colors jotted down. he’ll venture into a golf shop or a bookstore and shyly ask the sales associate for help picking out something for his boyfriend. because he knows will but he doesn’t know baking, or mixology, or guitars. he needs the options, needs to know what products are the best so he can make a choice. they’re competitive about it, like they are with everything. they argue about who’s the better gift-giver, despite secretly knowing they’re both equally good.
quality time
a big one for them. they spend 90% of their time together between practice and games and travel, but they can't get enough (see: "do they ever get sick of each other? i don't think so"). it's completely natural, and they don't realize they've been with the other for 24, 48, 72 hours straight until a teammate points it out. going out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. reading together for their two-person book club, mack sat between will's legs, his back pressed to will's chest as will reads aloud. golf, and basketball games, and movie nights. coffee shops, and shopping trips, and wrestling in the pool. training, and milk and cookies, and going for drives along the coast.
