the latest hunts had bored sonya out of her mind: fruitful in game, but not in walkers. she had taken no interest in killing deer or trying to fish--her real pleasure came from killing what was already dead. the few dead they had occasionally encountered were often too slow, anyway. their food rations werenât too bad, and hopefully with adrianâs sprouting roots, they would be set for the rest of the winter.
with no zombies to slay, and the threat of starvation hopefully solving itself, sonya felt useless. sitting on one of the benches near the mess hall, she watched as people filtered in and out. spying a familiar face trodding towards the dining area, presumably for lunch, sonya stood up, long legs closing the distance between them. she had already started shrugging off her winter coat, casting it aside once she was within armâs reach of them.
âforget everything youâre doing,â she said, tone devoid of humor. âweâre going to spar. right now.â hunching over and raising her fists, sonya gave a âcome hereâ motion, hoping theyâd accept her invitation.
