So I've probably posted about this before about my idea for a spiritual successor to the Windows 98 game Crimson Skies. It was a diesel punkish airplane combat game that was about air pirates in an alternate America where the US was split after the civil war. If you don't know about it look it up; it was one of my childhood games. Well the last sequel was an Xbox game back in the early 2000's and I think Microsoft still owns the copy right.
So my idea is to make a spiritual successor where instead of diesel punk it is magic punk. The main game is still a plane combat game but instead of internal combustion engines power rotors the plane is instead propelled by wind elementals summoned and controlled using magic runes on sails.
As everything runs on magic instead of technology the tech of the world is all, almost literally, spell runes on scrolls or other surfaces. Bullets are replaced with small fire bolt scrolls, missiles and bombs are created from spell cards or scrolls, etc.
Ill get into all the different systems and gameplay ideas in other posts that will focus just on those.
For this one I just want to show a slightly nicer drawing than the page of doodles. This plane I call the Classic. It is directly inspired from the front plane, the Devastator, from Crimson skies. It has four small wings that can hold 8 missiles or 4 bombs on the bottom wings and two large spirit sails (as i like to call them) that propel it. It serves as a strike fighter with decent speed and armaments; an all rounder.
