So we all know (Wizard) Cocoa's a very friendly and familiar cat who gets along with both of his families really well, right?
...Only half right!
He's constantly visiting, talking about or exchanging letters with his biological and adoptive families, and his relationship with his siblings is, for the most part, amazing. But there's one exception. Out of his... Seven siblings, I think they were? There's one of them that Cocoa is unapologetically embarrassed to be related to. And that sibling's Ice.
Ice is not a bad cat per se. He's a little explosive and can be a little short-tempered every now and then, but he's generally a 'noble' cat. He mostly means no harm and Cocoa would look up to him a lot...
...if he weren't a the captain of a pirate crew. He's a nice guy, but his personal sense of morality is very flexible in contrast to Cocoa's, which is way stricter. The life he's chosen to live implies multiple acts that may be viewed as commonly immoral and he'll often resort to violence whenever there's a conflict at hand, which also really contrasts with Cocoa's way of solving problems, the wizard preferring to use his voice over his claws.
Ice is pretty fond of Cocoa, but that fondness is one-sided. While the pirate sees his younger brother as kind, well-meaning and friendly, he's perceived as aggressive, explosive and somewhat selfish by the wizard.
Ice's relationship with the rest of his family is pretty good, it's Cocoa he can't manage to get along with. He's fully aware of the way he's perceived by the younger cat and has tried to change that by attempting to start multiple conversations through letters and invitations, though every one of them has been left unanswered by Cocoa. He does read and save them, he just doesn't answer them.
Sorry if I phrased anything wrong lmao I'm sleepy. Anyway, there's a fun fact about both Cocoa and Ice! Made this up to make both characters more rounded.
Have a lazy reference sheet for Wizard Cocoa! I'll probably redraw it, but this should do for now, haha. Upnext will be Caleb, they're for this year's final project - pretty sure I've already got a page up! My teacher wanted us to draw references for our characters, but said it wasn't necessary to rotate them
Henry canonically taught (Wizard) Cocoa to lie convincingly when Evan became a problem, despite how moral of a person (cat?) Cocoa is and I find that hilarious. He also taught him to curse as a bonus. He still prefers to use made-up cusses ("Glowing mushrooms and raining cloudcharms!" = "Fuck")
Lion Centaur Ethan and Vampire Henry (bat) from Art School recess btw! I'll probably have to change Ethan's face tho but I like how the poses turned out!!

OH BY THE WAY!!!
In Caleb's universe, the one in which Cocoa is a furry and teaches him magic, Cocoa was raised by Henry and Ethan, just like in the canon Downfall universe. The difference, though, is that, here, he was raised as a KID. Which means he had his own room before building the shack he currently lives in and made friends during his childhood and teenagehood and I really. Want to get into that.
Also, in this universe, Henry and Ethan do not break up and are able to keep a somewhat healthy relationship. Crazy, right? And Henry doesn't kill himself. He still wants to, but he doesn't. As for the two's species, Henry is a vampire here and Ethan is a lion centaur. I wanted to make him a pegasus centaur but it really didn't fit him. Plus, he's supposed to be fluffy. So I gave his wings up and replaced them with fluff. And now I get to give him cute little ears, so hooray!
I can't sleep so I'm gonna list some stuff I'll get into with time. Bases.
- Henry gave Cocoa permission to instantly choose violence if someone ever bothered him in any way, while Ethan always told him to try to talk things out first. He followed Ethan's advice.
- If Cocoa ever failed to sleep for whatever reason, Henry and him would stay up playing tabletop games and sharing stories.
- Yes they did have a cookie jar and yes Cocoa snuck out of his room a few times to grab a cookie at night. Henry caught him like twice and allowed him to take the cookies.
- Ethan taught Cocoa how to make flower crowns and the kid-tten liked them so much, he'd give both Ethan and Henry about three flower crowns per week. They've got a shelf dedicated to them.
- Okay the melatonin is working goodnight now
Oh hey by the way!! Caleb and Evan have a huge physical fight this one time, after which, Caleb runs away and, on his journey, he meets none other than Cocoa himself... Who becomes his mentor and begins teaching him about magic!
trying to build up the motivation to finish the right side of the background
