You know how cats will always lay down on a piece of paper if it's laying around? What if a wizard's cat started learning spells by osmosis while laying on the wizard's spell scrolls? Wizard comes home one day to see their cat teleporting around the tower to chase a mouse or summoning a fae creature to play with, or somehow invented a spell called "summon fish" which pulls one out the nearest river and drops it in the cat's bowl.
