Today as I was riding the bus home from work I saw a man who is homeless outside the bus. He was standing with his sign, asking for help, and looked up at me on the bus and made eye contact. He smiled with warmth and the depth of sadness in his eyes made teary the rest of the ride. What is his story? How must he feel to have to stand there and ask strangers for money? I think we forget the humans we share the world with. We look past each other. Avoid contact. I work in this lovely new building, and walk past the parliament each morning. I don’t get to disconnect from others to feel better about my privilege. They need us to stay connected. He has a story, he has dignity. He has a life. #yyj #whataboutus #stayconnected #keepyourheartopen #humanrights #caring #withprivilegecomesresponsibility #lovewhereyoulive (at Victoria (Vancouver Island))
