read plato's "allegory of the cave" for school and i'm still struggling to properly extrapolate the true interpretation of what the fuck this man is talking about like. this guy goes from an allegorical look at the subjectivity of "truth", as well as most likely pressing the act of questioning your understanding of said "truth" to branch outside of what you know rather than staying in your own limited world view, to a deep philosophical rant about the connections between the "virtues of the soul" and "bodily qualities" in correlation to the enlightened ones (aka the ones who leave the "cave" in this allegory), to "mmm yes the political leaders who HATE THEIR JOB are the best ones yessir" what was he on? who let this man cook?
in an attempt to make sense of the numerous sections midway through where he's basically just. saying words (this man loves his run-on sentences), i have resigned myself to reading other people's interpretations to make more sense of my own notes and? the idea of the allegory being "a call for leaders to lead by example" makes complete and utter sense in hindsight, but after annotating the SHIT out of that text, the correlations between such interpretations of modern leadership and my understanding and questioning of his stance of the subjectivity of our interpretation of truth (and TRUST ME, that's a whole other tangent i could get into) escaped me
