without a ton of image combination & HDR post-processing, it's pretty tough to get a shot of the moon that looks like what you see with your eyes
this is because you eyes take in a very small bit of the view at a time and move around taking little snaps and your brain combines it all; your eyes adjust for how ridiculously bright the moon is - you can actually see it in mid-day and it's competing with light that's being scattered in the sky as well! - and then move over just a bit and adjust for the much darker clouds and the inky starlit parts
anyways that's my excuse for giving you a pic of the moon behind some light clouds; the camera is doing its best trying to get a view of the whole scene at once, bright moon and dark background together
