You Summoned What?! || Cass & Wes
Continued from Here ... @witchesofrosewood
Wes takes a deep breath, closing the door behind him. I will not lose it, he chants to himself as he presses the door frame with his hand, counting backwards from five before he turns to look at Cass, her sheepish expression making him even more terrified.
âJust a chaos demon?â It comes out very evenly, and he pats himself on the back for it. âJust a minor chaos demon, oh, well thatâs fine then as long as theyâre minorâŚâ
He pinches the bridge of his nose in between his fingers, mind racing. God save him from headstrong, reckless, beautiful Cass, her pride and stubborn nature making her one hell of a woman, and a horrible student. Despite not knowing, well, anything, including how to draw a circle, sheâd called up a chaos demon.
âLet me ask you this,â Wes manages, still trying to get himself under control, even as he wants to scream at her, and shake some goddamn sense into that normally intelligent brain. âHow, exactly, did you do that? Last week I couldnât get you to use your second sight, now youâre out here messing around with demons? Cass, darlinâ, I donât even talk to demons.â
Cassidy breathed a little easier seeing Wesâ effort to remain calm. That was a start, at the very least, and he felt her shoulders lower from her ears, the tension releasing. âI realize itâs not the brightest decision that Iâve ever made, Wes. I know, believe me.â Understatement of the centuryâŚno, of the millennia. âFor what itâs worth, I did create a circle of salt as the book advised,â She didnât necessarily need to mention right this moment that she almost immediately broke the circle in the shock of having successfully summoned the demon in question. âI am fully aware that I screwed up, royally so, and I should have asked for your help before acting on impulse. ButâŚnever mind.â Cassidy didnât particular feel like going into detail about the why of her making this stupid decision.
âOkay, so maybe itâs not so minor, but really - the book did say it was the lesser threat of the demons it laid out. Basically, itâs the Chaos Demon Lite⢠version,â Cass clarified as if that might help her plead her case. It did not, and as Wes posed his question she felt herself pale. Shifting on the couch cushion, she turned to sit cross-legged, facing away from him. âCome sit down with me? I know youâre upset with me right now and I understand why, but Iâd rather not have this conversation like weâre about to have a duel - ten paces away from each other and all that.â Heaving a sigh, she raked her fingers through her hair, âI found this book at a little shop, something kind of like your place but way more creepy. The shopkeeper said it was easy enough to follow, even told me the demon that I should put my eye on for what I needed.â She tilted her head back with another heavy breath, staring at the crisscrossing wooden beams of her cabin ceiling, hoping to whatever deity might be listening that he didnât ask why sheâd done what sheâd done. âI followed the instructions, I said the words I was supposed to say, and I honestly thought it hadnât worked at first. And thenâŚit did.â
