As the current WIPCE 2017 co-hosts, Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) and Tap Resources are excited to announce that we are now accepting bids to host the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) 2020. WIPCE is an international gathering held every three years to share successes and strategies in culturally grounded Indigenous Education. WIPCE attracts highly regarded experts and scholars in Indigenous education engaging approximately 4000 Indigenous representatives from First Nations (Canada), Native Americans (USA), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (Australia), Maori (New Zealand), Ainu (Japan), Sami (Norway) and more.

WIPCE is a triennial event held in different places around the world. Since its establishment in 1987, participants have included Indigenous leaders, teachers and academics who celebrate and share diverse cultures, traditions, knowledge and strategies for Indigenous Peoples education.

 We will accept bids until November 30th, 2016. We     reserve the right to accept bids after this deadline.

 Submit a $1,000. Canadian bid fee (non-refundable). Please make     checks payable to: Six Nations Polytechnic/WIPCE 2017. Note the proposer’s     committee name on the check.

A bid will not be accepted without the bid fee. The fee will pay for committee members to meet and review bid proposals.

The committee will select two (2) finalists.

The committee may send up to 2 people to the host location to visit the organization and look at the potential venue for WIPCE 2020.

The WIPCE 2017 Host Committee will ask for a unanimous consent from a group comprised of representatives from previous WIPCE coordinators. If the group does not ratify the recommendation, the WIPCE 2017 organizing committee reserves the right to make additional recommendations. The WIPCE 2017 committee will make the final selection decision.

 An announcement of the successful bid will be made at the conference on Friday July 28th during the closing ceremonies

OHSWEKEN, August 11, 2016 – Registration for the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) is now open, and those who are hoping to take advantage of the early bird registration rate are encouraged to register soon. For more information and to register please visit www.wipce2017.com.

All delegates who book within the conference hotels will be verified and given a discounted registration fee. Those delegates not booking into an associated conference hotel will be required to pay the full registration fee. All hotels are in a reasonable walking distance. However, for those who prefer, complimentary conference transportation will be provided from the following hotels: Westin Harbour Castle; Sheraton Centre; Hilton Toronto; and the Chelsea hotel.

In addition, workshop abstracts are still being accepted on an ongoing basis and the deadline has now been extended to October 31, 2016.
