It was already the middle of February and the snow was not showing any signs of letting up. I was sick and tired of having to traipse through the deep snow just to go get groceries. It was hard to even meet people in these conditions, which is why it’d been weeks since I had seen Mingi. Because of this predicament, we promised to meet today, not matter what the weather conditions were.
We met inside the small coffee shop in between our two dwelling places. It was are usual meeting place, since it was so convenient. I push the door open, hearing the bells above ring, alerting the cafe of my presence. I survey the cafe, seeing Mingi sitting by one of the windows, smiling and beckoning me over. I smile warmly at him and make my way over to sit across from him.
“Here.” He hands me a styrofoam cup full of my favorite warm drink.
“Thanks Mingi.“ I smile happily at his as I wrap my hands around the styrofoam, feeling the warmth seep through to my hands.
“How’s everything been?” I ask him. “I feel like I haven’t seen you in such a long time, I need updated.”
Mingi chuckles as begins to tell you what was new with him.
“The comeback has been going really well and we are about to go to America!” He says excitedly.
“That’s right!” I exclaim. “That’s so exciting!”
Mingi nods enthusiastically.
We chat for about an hour, catching up on some small things we hadn’t talked about over the phone.
“Should we attempt to brave outside?” I ask Mingi as we look out the window, seeing that the snow had stopped snowing.
“Let’s go!” He nods, grabbing my hand in his and leading me out of the cafe. I quickly apply my winter gear as he drags me out the door into the frigid cold temperatures.
“It’s so cold.” I whine when I feel the brisk air brush my exposed skin.
Mingi looks down at his hands which had no clothing to protect from the weather.
“My hand is going numb.” He states as he holds out his hand, indicating he wanted me to hold it.
I roll my eyes and reach my hand out to grab Mingi’s hand, stuffing it in my giant coat pocket.
“Better?” I smile as I look up at him. He nods with a giant, gummy smile on his face as we walk down the sidewalk.
“My ears are going numb.” Mingi speaks up a few moments later, pouting down to me.
I shake my head with a smile on my face as I stand in front of Mingi. I place my mitten covered hands over both of his ears, while Mingi places his hands in my coat pockets to protect them from the cold.
“You have coat pockets too.” I giggle at him.
“But yours are way warmer.” He smiles goofily.
“You’re silly.” I tell him, rubbing my nose against his.
“My lips are going numb.” He pouts his lips towards me as I continue to hold his ears.
“Are they now?” I tease him as I look into his eyes. He nods with the pout still apparent on his face.
I giggle at his antics but give into his wishes. I pull his head down to mine as I kiss his pouting lips. His lips were really cold and slightly chapped, clearly because he hadn’t applied any chapstick in a long while. Mingi pulls me closer by my pockets, not wanting to leave the warmth that they provided. This kiss warms my whole body by the time we pull away from each other. Mingi is left with a huge smile on his face.
“Better?” I ask him as we were still in the same position with his hands in my pockets and my hands on his ears.
“My lips are still cold.” He smirks, clearly not telling the truth. I shake my head with a giggle as I go in for another heated kiss to warm us both up on this cold, winter day.
