Hazel hadn’t been paying much attention as the subway chugged along, the only thing of note was how empty the car was. Bad weather was apparently keeping people inside and off the subway. Her phone wasn’t getting reception, but she was still able to listen to her downloaded music as she sat, chugging through stops toward her apartment. 

The train stopped and all but one other passenger exited. Her eyes flicked up toward the man left on the car, he looked vaguely familiar (and vaguely intimidating) but he was on the other end and seemed to be ignoring her so she went back to her music. Or, she would have, if the lights inside the train hadn’t flickered and died as it lurched to a halt somewhere in between actual stops. Dim emergency lights came on but it was clear there was no power. Tugging her earbuds from her ears, she stood and glanced around hoping for some kind of announcement or explanation but none came. 

“Uh...well,” she said, biting her lip. “I guess... we’re stuck? Not claustrophobic are you?”

Garnet is smiling whenever she is with company. There’s an Unseelie smile—forced and overly sweet. There’s a smile for charming—wide and bright, matched with a bat of her eyelashes. And there’s a smile reserved for her inner circle—one that’s almost goofy. 

But her usual smile has her lips pressed together and soft. It’s a light, elegant curl to her lips. The smile of a would-be queen.

For the record, if and when Garnet’s hair goes grey, she better notice the first strand when she’s on her own because there will be screaming and there will be crying ( ageing is not something she deals with in a healthy manner—her 300th birthday was not a pleasant one and one she was extremely reluctant to celebrate ).

And when her hair does start to grey, no one will ever see it. There will be a constant glamour, even when she’s alone and just to be safe, she’ll have it dyed too.

✜ what’s their posture like in a normal situation?

Ivy has two very different signature postures, one for each of the altering sides of her personality. When she’s calm and relaxed, her whole body looks it. Limbs spread out, shoulders hunched forward, leg relaxed or kicked out in front of her. The kind of posture that welcomes conversation and pulls everyone in by looking effortlessly cool. When on edge or guarded though, it’s the exact opposite. She pulls every inch of her body into line, making sure to draw herself up to the tallest she can be. Every muscle is tensed, every joint ready to spring into action at any given moment. It’s then that her posture sends only one message. Stay away.

No. Jasper is far too calculative to believe luck could get him anywhere. Everything he does, it’s with a plan in one hand and a sharp tongue in the other. Any chance of luck being a part of Jasper’s being was broken when he did not receive a Wild Hand. Anger still roams his bones because of this fate - one he’s not too proud to admit.

The Fool: What is the stupidest thing your muse has ever done?

Do I have to pick just one thing? Truthfully, Nickel has done a lot of stupid things that ended up turning out much more self-destructive than he probably hoped they would. The stupidest would inevitably have to be the way he distanced himself from Benji, though. After he left home, after he took on full duties as a Handler, Nickel lost himself in it for a little bit. That time he lost was critical, however, and where Benji used to idolize Nickel, there is a disconnect and a gap between them that Nickel has no idea how to get back.

Wheel of Fortune: Does your muse believe in luck?

Waking up every single day is luck. Not getting mugged on his way home from work is luck. The world is filled with good luck and bad luck, and especially when it comes to fey, it is a major player. If Nicky didn’t believe in luck, he wouldn’t believe in himself.
