1. Gingerbrave

Gingerbrave is nothing to write home about. His design is pretty plain and while he passes the silhouette test, that’s just because every other character is too unique he be mistaken for him. But that’s not a completely bad thing, his design does it’s job perfectly. Being the game’s mascot and the defacto gingerbread cookie, Gingerbrave’s not supposed to be too over the top. of course he has a little bit of added personality with his skull buttons, candy cane weapon, and signature smug look (looking at you ovenbreak) but other than that he’s literally just a gingerbread cookie and I think he does a great job with it.

As for costume, Gingerbrave has a couple across the two games, but I think his ovenbreak king outfit is my fave

It’s simple, regal, and just feels right for a mascot like him.

Overall I give Gingerbrave a 5/10, Knows his job and stays in his lane, unbothered king.

2. Strawberry Cookie

I LOVE STRAWBERRY COOKIE!!! She’s a bit plain, like any other common cookie, but it fits so well with her lore and her shapework comes through regardless. Strawberry cookie is shy and self conscious due to being artificially flavored and her design fits perfectly with that. Very round shapes with her hood covering most of her face and also doing most of the work for her strawberry association, instead of any dna traits of the cookie herself like hair. (Her backpack being the green part of a strawberry really adds to this idea) Her big ass giant lollipop helps with her characterization, being the defense to Gingerbrave’s offense and giving the vibe she might be a bit physically stronger than she seems.

Strawberry Cookie doesn’t have many costumes as she’s a common and isn’t the mascot like Gingerbrave but my favorite is her Kingdom bungeo-ppang skin “Warm Winter snack” (this china only skin is also a close second but why did the feel the need to lighten her skin?)

This skin really shows how much of her flavor characterization is based on her clothes. If I had only seen the costume and not the original character I wouldn’t be able to tell you she was originally strawberry, and I LIKE that a lot for strawberry cookie. (Also her lollipop turning into the grill is adorable)

Strawberry cookie gets a 6 or a 5.5/10 for me, plain and simple but very cute

3. Wizard Cookie

Wizard cookie as a design has never been that interesting to me. Sure it’s good, but it’s kinda just what it says on the box. What I DO like is his silhouette, which is very distinct, and the fact that his hat mixed with his hair looks like a vanilla ice cream cone has fallen onto his head. Most cookies are based on actual things and the ones that aren’t I find kind of unspectacular (with some exceptions). Because he’s nothing but “wizard” most of his characterization comes from his clothes which, unlike strawberry who has a bit of a lore reason, doesn’t feel very creative. The design isn’t bad, but it just leaves me wanting a little more.

Wizard cookie was an epic back in ovenbreak so he’s got a couple cool costumes, my favorite being this one

While his other rarer skin is nice, I feel like it lacks the little bit of personality that comes with wizard cookie’s sharper edges. I like how this one has a less “city of wizards” vibe to it. The warmer colors and spikes on the hat almost give me vibes of the witches instead.

As much as I said about Wizard cookie, I can’t give him less than a 6/10. Good, but could still be better.

1. Alchemist cookie

I said before when talking about Wizard Cookie that I wasn’t a fan, design wise, of CR characters that are just named after their occupation. Alchemist cookie is one of few exceptions to that. You wanna know why? because she still keeps a food theme. As much as her hair resembles potion bubbles, it also resembles grapes. Matching that with her green accents makes for a phenomenal color pallet. She looks a lot less like a cookie who is based solely off a job, and more like a grape cookie who HAS a job. Her bubble braids are adorable and so striking and although her clothes are definitely not the highlight of her design, they do give off the vibes of an alchemist. I just wish her shirt matched her hat better.

For costumes, her best look is absolutely her Guileful Queen fit from ovenbreak.

I know it goes against all the opinions I stated before but LOOK HOW FUCKING COOL THIS THING IS. And honestly, even though there’s not much that’s “cookie” about it, it plays into the alchemist part of her in a really nice way.

Overall I give Alchemist cookie a 7.5/10. She was ROBBED of being upgraded to an epic in kingdom.

2. Vampire Cookie

Now we’re onto the cookie who actually WAS upgraded to an epic. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think he pulls his look off as well as his sister. Like alchemist, he’s a cookie with an occupation names that actually has a food theme, with his hair resembling red wine (or blood if you wanna really go the vampire route). But I still find aspects his design plain, if not a little mismatched. The blue pendant and the purple accents on his sleeves sorta take me away from the rest of the ensemble and I don’t like how detached his cloak looks from the rest of his body. Despite all this, there are still some parts of vampire cookie I really like. I think it does a good job balancing between vampire and wine cookie, with the front of the hair being liquid like and the back being spikey like vampire fangs.

Matching with his sister, Vampire cookie’s best look is undoubtedly his Insouciant King outfit from ovenbreak

Again, like Alchemist it definitely plays more into the vampire aspect rather than the cookie part. But it’s just gorgeous. The unified color palette, the wings that I’m pretty fire are attached to his hair, and the overall PIZZAZ that it radiates make this outfit not just my fave vampire cookie outfit, but one of my favorite cookie costumes of all time. (Also his costume is white while his sisters matching one is black so that’s another point for this set)

I came into this review not a big fan of Vampire Cookie’s design, but the more I saw it, the more it grew on me. So I give it a solid 6.8/10. The only thing stopping it from being a seven is his shirt. I think it would look better if they just gave him a white ruffled button up but maybe I’m just not seeing the vision.

1. Crunchy Chip Cookie

I’m actually so glad I got this ask because I never fully realized how COOL this guy is!! Like this is some peak character design right here. His hair and his clothes do such a good job giving him both a recognizable color scheme, and highlighting his personality. The Sharp angular stripes all throughout his design really feed into the wolf aesthetic and the yellow eyes are incredibly striking against the rest of his monochrome look. I also realized that he blends in perfectly with the wilds of the Dark Cacao kingdom which makes sense given he probably spends most of his time out there with the Cream Wolves. Lastly, my personal favorite part though is the weapon on his hand that is LITERALLY AN OREO WITH CREAM CLAWS AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH. He even gave a little matching pauldron to his wolf that’s adorable.

Sadly, Devsisters have not given this dude any costumes yet. So instead I’ll give you this official art I think is parodying Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Crunchy Chip Cookie, for me, is an unexpected but easy 10/10. Everything about him makes sense and I love it. Stan that short king

2. Wildberry Cookie

Wildberry cookie is rather bland which partially makes sense for his stoic and focused demeanor. But at the same time, dude almost looks like he could be an npc. There’s nothing I particularly hate, his bulky shapework is distinct, His silver armor and red cloak really do make him look a knight, and I am always a sucker for a gauntlet. But there’s so much MORE they could have done with all of these things! I wish they gave him something ANYTHING to make him look more playable.

Wildberry cookie only has one costume and It’s his “Hero blessed by the stars” one

It’s not half bad! I think the gold actually suits him better than the silver he usually wears and the glowing snake and lion balance each other out, making both sides feel even. I like the scars on his cheek and arm too, definitely adds to the “hero who’s seen his fair share of battles” vibe.

I really hate to do this but I can’t give Wildberry more than a 5/10. Which sucks because I love him as a character, but this isn’t a personality rating, it’s a design rating and I have to be as objective as possible.
