Yeah that makes sense that if it tasted good it could cause problems. However if I have to pinch my nose in order to make taking my antibiotic bearable then thats no bueno. Even if I am an "adult" ha.

Why do medicines ALWAYS taste so disgusting? And they expect us to take that stuff?

My mother used to say that medicine isn’t supposed to taste good because we’re not supposed to like it. I guess you could put sugar into almost everything, and it would make most medicine taste like some nice juice or candy.

But I guess especially for children it’s a good thing it doesn’t. Because children are not supposed to like the medicine, aka they are not supposed to want to have more of it.

Some medicine can actually be pretty dangerous if taken in a too high dose, and just imagine a child sneaking a bottle of coughing suppressant out of the medicine cabinet and downing it because it tastes to delicious. And even we adults (haha yeah I made myself laugh here actually) aren’t supposed to be fooled by what medicine actually is. It’s not some juice, it’s not supposed to be consumed like juice, and therefore it has to taste horrible so we don’t forget.

But, bearing all this in mind, this coughing suppressant has long passed “not very pleasant” and landed right at “what the FFUUU WHAT THE WHHAT WHY WHY GOD WHY DID YOU ABANDONED US WHY??”

#confirmed #medicine #stuff I did #wing14 #axe tag #funny story btw: I used to play in my grandmas cupboard when I was about 3 years old #and one day I found a couple of what I though were smarties #but were actually sleeping pills #but of course I downed them all #all 12 or so #luckily when I somehow staggered back to my parents my Dad (being a doctor maybe) instantly realized what happened #and we drove to the next hospital where I had my stomach pumped out and #hooray hooray #survived #and this dear children is how I almost died
