Wing hands
How would you design wings that also function as hands?
I have the idea of them being similar to pterosaur wings with the small fingers developing into almost fully fledged hands but I'd like your input on this and possibly with other wings types (like feathered wings)
wing hands are a lot of fun! there's a few ways to do it. the pterosaur route, where a few fingers poke out from the top corner of the wing. the dinosaur route, like microraptor and velociraptor, with a couple fingers sticking out parallel to the primary feathers. and the bat route, where they really only have a thumb and maybe one other finger fully mobile outside the wing membrane.
(image description: the first image is a scientific illustration showing the similar structures of pterosaur, bird, and bat wings. the second image is a scientific illustration of a microraptor skeleton. end description.)
some part of the hand will always be attached to the main wing structure, of course. the pterosaur's wing is heavily dependent on that long fourth digit. the bat's wing is all fingers. birds no longer have fingers because those digits got fused over the generations, and that's where the primary flight feathers are anchored. but for bird wings with hands, you really just need to unfuse those digits and make one of them the anchor while the other two are free to grab stuff. keeping in mind, wing forearms can't twist the way human forearms do (the twisting is called pronation! not all animal groups can do it, it's mostly found in like, primates and felines and tree climbing rodents. so your winged folks most likely can't twist their forearms, and this will affect how they can move their hands)

I was going to be running a Tails of Equestria game with 3 friends on halloween and so the day before during the chill art stream I do every friday on Picarto .tv/ FluffyXai I decided to sketch a couple of the characters that would be involved. Specifically the mayor and her assistant of the town in which the ponies started. This is Sherbert Flight, the assistant of the night mayor in the batpony city we started the game in. She's friendly, nerdy and cute. Maybe I'll make her a regular character X3
