true evil never dies.
Alright ghoulies! Let’s kick this thing off the right way and just dive right in.
Now, I will be the first to say I am not the end all be all of reviews, wine, film or otherwise. I do this because it’s somethin’ I love and hope some people out there in internetland might find some enjoyment here too. That said, take any, all or none of any advice you might find in this here blog. You do you, boo! (Get it? Boo? Like a ghost? ...I’ll see myself out now.)
I know I’m a few days late from Halloween, but I was a ‘lil busy doing, well, Halloween shenanigans. Not to fear, though! In my house, every day is Halloween and that’s what this blog is all about.
As I was browsing my local Ralph’s, I came across this red blend I haven’t tried. Not that it’s hard, I don’t usually pick up blends, despite the fact that I have tried some bomb diggity ones. Well, tonight’s episode is brought to you by a blend going by the name of…. *insert some creepy music*
LUNATIC RED, a blend from California.
THE BREAK DOWN: 32% Sangiovese, 24% Malbec, 20% Alicante Bouschet, 18% Petit Verdot, 6% Petite Sirah
I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t have a movie in mind when I went to the store, but after seeing this on the shelf, I couldn’t not pair it with Halloween (1978), featuring everyone’s favorite escaped lunatic, Michael Meyers! Really, the pairing couldn’t have been more clear for me, plus I didn’t get to watch this John Carpenter classic at all this season (tragic, I know).
Now, I’m usually a Pinot Noir kinda gal, but lemme tell you, this blend is gonna go right up there on my top ten list. It’s smooth, rich and lush, with a well rounded body and just the right amount of spice. It’s a bit fruit forward, but not overly sweet. There’s definitely some earthy tones to it, but that’s exactly why I love it. Also to note, I got this baby for $10 at my local Ralph’s, which puts it square in my price range for frequent doses. Well, that’s about all I’ve got for you folks today! Stay tuned to see what pairings we get into next! Happy Haunting!
