What Should I Do With My Old AC Window Units?
What should I do with my old AC window units is what this quick DIY howto video is about. VideoJoe just got done with installing a few new LG window/wall mount AC units & now it's time to figure out what to do with the old window AC units. Just punch a hole in one of the copper lines & let all the freon material escape so you can then cut out all the copper tubing & aluminum & take to the recycler. Shoot if you have 2 or three old AC window units you could make a few bucks that way. Is that what I or YOU should do? No! What about if you just have a dumpster close by just load up the old window/wall mount AC units & just dump them in the dumpster. I'm sure no one will mind. Is that what YOU or I should do? NO! Just take them to the dump & they will take them there. Is that what you or I should do? Well now that would depend if your particular dump will take them so they can recycle them. Most big dumps or landfills will take them as they will take them over to their recycle area so they can reclaim the freon material then they will pull them apart so they can reclaim the copper & aluminum once the freon has been safely removed so it doesn't get in the atmosphere. In VideoJoe's case since he lives on an island the dump there doesn't take stuff like old AC window units or refrigerators. He has to take the old AC window units to a special area that just recycles stuff like that. But that's ok. He doesn't mind since he knows it's the right thing to do. Be kind to the environment & do your part. What should you do with your old AC window mount units? Yes! Take them to a recycler! Â Nice!
