Here is the thing... I bought a plane trip to California in hopes that the Dodgers will make the World Series and hopefully I can go to the game with my mom. If ANYONE is selling tickets or knows anyone selling tickets please let me know. I've already reached out to a few of you and it wouldn't hurt to reach out to a few more. Rewriting the Script
I couldn’t think of the right time to begin this blog but with the Dodgers clinching their division title for the 4th time in 4 years, I feel like it’s as good as any other time or a little bit better. Yesterday was quite an emotional day to be a baseball fan and a very emotional, bittersweet time to be a Dodgers fan at that.Â
Baseball fans all over the world were mourning the loss of 24-year-old pitcher, Jose Fernandez of the Miami Marlins. Not only was Fernandez one of the greatest pitchers in baseball, he was down-to-earth and one of the most loved baseball players since he made his major league debut in 2013. Rookie of the Year and a two-time all-star, he will be truly missed and I would be lying if I said I hadn’t cried multiple times throughout the day thinking about how unfortunate it has been to lose someone so caring, talented and with so much more ahead of him.Â
The loss of Fernandez was an enormous tragedy and had greatly affected players of the Dodgers, specifically Yasiel Puig, who was great friends with him. In honor of Fernandez, Puig hung up a personalized Dodgers jersey for Fernandez and dedicated to him.Â
The Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 4-3 in extra innings in a walk-off fashion thanks to Charlie Culberson. The Dodgers were ready to celebrate not only for clinching the division but to celebrate Vin Scully, who has been the Dodgers’ broadcaster for 67 years and who has easily become the heart and voice of the Dodgers. It was his last day at Dodgers Stadium and with so many feelings and goodbyes throughout the stadium, he had two magical words, Thank You. He then asked everyone if they mind listening to a recording of him singing “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler. It was an emotional moment and everyone will miss Vin but we are appreciative of all the times we have had with him since he always seemed to be there for us.Â
