Also Wilmarth: oh he says it's all ok now so I guess I'll just go off with this stranger in a car into the middle of nowhere to see him without telling anyone.

I love it so much, it's such an utterly alien time.

Wilmarth Woods

Almost 8 months ago. Hundreds of anxious students flooded onto campus in search of the promised land, college.  They did not know where they would end up months in the future, but this was the first chapter of their long adventure.

Boxes and boxes of personal belongings were hauled into dorm rooms by students and their parents, some of whom contained their melancholic emotions to avoid embarrassing their child.  Everyone settled in and embraced, sometimes the parents would slip in 40 extra dollars into a pocket (I know my parents did that).  From there students met their roommates, who would be the closet thing to a friend at this point in time.  Nobody knows who their friends will be (yet), but hopes they will fit in somehow.

Father time has been very cruel; it is finals week and everyone on campus is stressed out beyond belief.  There is the obvious feeling of anxiety because of the amount of work that was procrastinated.  There is also the feeling of anxiety about the trek home.  The people who you've spent 8 months of the year with will be all gone and there will be a transitioning period to adjust to living back at home or working away from home.  Sometimes this is a good thing, escaping some sort of drama causing a schism within the group or even being able to avoid someone that drives you crazy (hoping that they wont call you...maybe).  For most people it can be a bad thing: leaving behind a group of close friends whom you find yourself closer to than friends at home.  There are also people who just will miss the town of Saratoga Springs or wherever they currently reside.

I find myself able to relate to both viewpoints.  Regardless, my freshman year has been THE BEST year of my entire life and I am stoked to have 3 more years at Skidmore to work hard and play.  Couldn't have done it without the help of my friends from Wilmarth, The Meatballs, and those who I cannot categorize into a group.  You all have been great and cannot wait until Sophomore year for the greatness to continue.
