TO QUICKLY SUM UP THE AU VERY QUICKLY:

Robert makes a very messy upgrade and sends it out system wide without doing more in-depth tests on it, in an attempt to defeat the Toons once and for all. The Upgrade makes cogs stronger at the cost of their bodies Literally not able to handle the strength...

Which is where William comes in. He's weak. Have you SEEN THIS GUY he leaks oil everywhere.. And so when he gets the Upgrade, he immediately just. breaks. He's "dead", but there's plans to repair him when the resistance has the resources.

(The Cogs and toons team up forming a single resistance. Robert ran away and thomas is left to fix his Everything. The whole situation forces the two sides to come together and work out their issues. It's why they want to try repairing William.)

Barbara is the child of William Boar and Rain. Built by William with some help from Rain.

Rain gets separated from the two early on due to external circumstances, so Barbara is raised by William within C.O.Gs inc.
