One of the best things about going to one of Linzy"s gigs, especially her solo performances, is watching strangers gush about her. It's also a pleasure to see how genuinely natural she is at engaging with people she's never met before who come up to her after her set.
Now, before we take credit for all of that, I wanna point out that such credit has already been bestowed upon us. When someone at a Little Lies show learns that we're Linzy's parents, they give us all kinds of compliments about how good she is. Often they'll share with us moments at a past Little Lies show that meant a lot to them.
At the Rabbit Box Theatre show not too long ago, one of Linzy's band mates thanked us for making such an extraordinary human being. Hard to know what to say about that. She's been charting her own professional course for years now.
But we will take some of the credit. Absolutely. ☺️
And then last night, it was sweet to see how much staff at the venue appreciated her. It was lovely to meet one of her young music students who came all the way out to Woodinville for the performance with her mom and her aunt (all definite fans). It was touching to watch her create a moment for someone's wife and then afterward hear the husband express his gratitude for that moment as well as genuine appreciation of Linzy's professional talent. Then, when he discovered we're Linzy's parents, we got a Thank You as well.
For our gift to the world, I suspect.
All of which I say just so I can point out what an oddly unexpected phase we're experiencing with daughter number one.
