Willow is tending to the flowers in the garden, unaware at first that sheβs being watched. Sheβs lost in her own little world, humming a sweet song and every so often talking to the flowers in her garden. It isnβt until she feels the hair on the back of her neck stand on end that the feeling of being watched hits her. She dares a look over her shoulder to catch the silhouette of a man, one sheβs come to recognize over the past week. He still unnerves her, that ever watchful gaze of his making the young woman hyperaware of everything around her. It unnerves her and intrigues her in ways she knows it shouldnβt. Willow doesnβt speak as she stands and turns to face him, not at first.Β
Itβs something tense in the moment, Her golden brown gaze lingering on the man just a moment longer than it needs to, lingering more than it should. Willow tries to remind herself that her mother had introduced him to her for the first time days ago as her uncle. Yet the word doesnβt feel right in her mouth when she tries to call him that, so sheβs simply stopped trying.Β βAre you looking for my mother?β She questions, pulling off the gardening gloves and setting them aside as she moves to make her way up the steps that lead to the back porch.Β βI think she went out to run some errandsβow.β Willow winces, hand pulling away quickly from the stairs wooden handrail as a splinter pierces the soft flesh of her index finger. She clutches her hand to her chest, the pain insistent as the splinter remains imbedded.Β
