Say Happy Birthday to the youngest ever recipient of a Nobel Prize in Physics!
Born on this day in 1890, William Lawrence Bragg was awarded the Physics Nobel Prize for his services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays in 1915. He was 25.
Born in Australia, he started studying mathematics, chemistry and physics at the University of Adelaide aged just 16, graduating in 1908. When his family moved to the UK, he entered Trinity College, Cambridge and went on to a fellowship. Between the world wars, from 1919 to 1937, he worked at the Victoria University of Manchester as Langworthy Professor of Physics.Â
