lots of in jokes and references in this one but i hope it's enjoyable to look at out of context too. shoutout to my beloved dnd group (including @doe-gurl, @vandoosler, @lilyinwaiting, @hippolyt-a, @largeocin, @tief4tief, @actualmollymauk, and a whole bunch of folks who aren't on tumblr). love y'all!!
37 and 57 for the oc asks! (one each for esper and willabell, your choice)
no i think i'm gonna do both for both. i'm having fun anf playing thank you <3
60 questions that can be made into an OC ask game, or you can just fill everything out yourself to get to know your character a little bette
esper
[37] How would they spend a lazy day when they have nothing specific to do?
anything. anything. writhing in pain and desperately looking for ways to make themself busy and useful. if you stay still for too long that's how the demons get you. esper haaaates having nothing to do lmao. nuclear reactor blooded demigod.
[57] What was the most stupid or dangerous thing they have ever done?
i mean. (gestures vaguely at all of bg3 canon.) but i think their most stupid/dangerous in-game story decision was saving minsc, probably. they did not want to and they regretted it as soon as they met the man. the only reason they would ever do something like that is because jaheira asked them to. the mommy issues run almost as deep as the daddy issues.
willabell
[37] How would they spend a lazy day when they have nothing specific to do?
bell likes to read and paint! so she'd probably make a little day trip to the library and pick something that looks interesting, or head to a nice outdoor space and sketch flowers or compelling objects. she could also do a little dress shopping, work on her sword forms, or tag along anywhere her friends are headed that seems interesting. as long as she's not on her own!
[57] What was the most stupid or dangerous thing they have ever done?
she's in a dnd session, so much like with esper, there is absolutely no shortage of stupid, dangerous, and both stupid and dangerous things to do. i think most of willabell's worst decisions involve rat tail in some way or other -- the one that comes the most to mind is one of her Classic Bell Momence, where she dove into an ocean of zombifying spores tied to a branch while extremely injured to reach out and grab rat tail, who'd fallen into the spores and gotten zombified. it worked out, but it was SO stupid and dangerous.
and then the other one which was mostly just stupid was aiding and abetting rat tail's decision to sneak around a castle that the party was guests of and eavesdrop on staff and setting into motion the most useless and unhinged running joke of a fake conspiracy that we've ever come up with, which has haunted the narrative ever since.
thanks for asking!!!
17 and 15 for bell!
thank u so much for asking!!! >:3

[15] How do they act around people they don't like?
putting this one first bc the other one is long and dramatic lol
depends! if she can't say anything rude to their face without causing problems, she'll usually just stay quiet or default on classical manners to try and give them the opposite impression. if she's at complete liberty to be rude to them, if trying to be the bigger person (which she usually tries first) doesn't work, thrashing her tail and hissing and glaring tends to do it. for people she REALLY doesn't like who she is allowed to physically attack, she will launch herself at them and go for the eyes.
[17] What is their biggest struggle that no one around them is able to understand or believe?
one thing that has come up a lot from willabell's party members is her unwillingness to distance herself from her family or her tentative future responsibility to her kingdom. bell's family is a mess right now -- long story, but there's a massive power struggle between several of her siblings that's already killed three of them, with some of the others having literally hired people to hunt bell down to recover the pieces of the crown that she's carrying so they can reforge the crown, since the first one to do so becomes the new monarch of their kingdom. bell initially wanted to prevent her more bloody-minded siblings from reaching the throne, and she still wants to do that, but now she's in a position where she's probably the only viable candidate for the throne.
several times bell's party members have asked if this is what she really wants to do, be monarch, and she's said no, but if this is what she has to do to help people, then it's what she has to do, because she was born into that responsibility. they've also asked if she's ever considered just sending her crown pieces back, fully distanced herself from her fucked up family and her role as heir to the throne. and bell doesn't want to do that either, because what she wants more than anything is to be home again, to feel home again after all the trauma, to bring her family back together and keep them safe and cared for, to help the people who live in her country feel safe and cared for. she wants to be strong enough to protect the people she cares about, and she doesn't want to leave anyone behind.
she isn't at the point where she can articulate this herself yet: i think the people around willabell love her very much, but they don't quite get that the reason she's agonizing so much over all this is not because bell doesn't believe she's worth living her own life, or because she's afraid of being alone, or because she wants the power, or because she's a little stupid and wants to go back in time to the way things were -- the thing she wants is to prove that a broken thing can still be fixed and made stronger with patience, community, and support. a broken person, a broken bond, a broken family, a broken system. she can't coddle things back to the way they were, but if she can't care enough to fix things, then why should anyone?
point is, she sees a lot of herself in the mess. if people don't think that important part of herself is worth caring enough about to salvage, then maybe that means she's not worth caring about either. she may not want to be monarch, she may think she'd be bad at it, but it's still what she wants to do because she wants more than anything to care about her community, in any way she can, and she feels like maybe that's how she can feel cared for again, too. more than anything she wants to be right that the world can be full of love again and that maybe if she plants enough, someday there'll some for her too.
but in addition to that, the desire to protect and nurture and care even when she isn't met with that just comes from a very deep and strong belief system rooted in her culture and her life experience. she's had to leave a lot behind, but this belief is one thing she's unwilling to sacrifice. she doesn't want to abandon anyone. she wants people to know they're remembered and cared about. the belief in community and mutual support is part of willabell's identity, and she's had to rethink a lot of the ways she used to think about herself in the past year, but that part of her has remained and grown stronger. the fact that she ran away from home Eats at her. she has had to make practical decisions to let her siblings be left alone, but it's hurt her every single time she's done it. she can't stand leaving her party members alone or in danger either, her nature is to go after them and give whatever help she can.
everyone, please meet my catgirl who needs therapy.
EDIT: added a bit because it wasn't quite conveying what i wanted it to. bell's drive to care and fix and reunite and support was made Weaker by her low self-worth, not founded in it. she doesn't think she's worthless if she doesn't put herself in danger for the sake of other people, she believes very deeply that problems and hardship are best tackled together, and she doesn't want anyone to have to feel like they have to go it alone.
[57] What was the most stupid or dangerous thing they have ever done?
for the first OC that pops into your head :)
i did answer this one for esper and bell a while ago! but i can come up with new stories, since again, there's no shortage of stupid and dangerous things to do in a DnD party. thank u for asking >:3

[57] What was the most stupid or dangerous thing they have ever done?
esper:
outside of bg3 canon (which contains such classics as "defying bhaal and dying", "breaking into raphael's house and stealing everything", "robbing the stormshore tabernacle", "telling yurgir to kill himself", "encouraging a child to do necromancy in a graveyard", and "telling the emperor to go fuck himself sincerely and often"), probably the most stupid and dangerous thing esper did was make out with gortash during the hell heist. they did it as soon as they were sure bhaal couldn't control them in the hells, and that kiss, their fondness for the chosen of bane, and their desire to keep it from bhaal (lest he retaliate in the way esper knows he likes to do) went on to set about the unravelling of their faith and sanity until orin usurped them. 20 odd years of conditioned self-dehumanization out the window the second esper acknowledged even for a moment that they had individual wants and needs and didn't want to be controlled by bhaal anymore.
willabell:
at the start of the campaign, bell was being actively hunted by her family and had a bounty on her head. meanwhile she was going by her same given name, wandering around in public like a girl who's never been outside before with very identifiable facial markings. she was so bad at hiding her true identity that "are you a secret princess" became one of our party's first running jokes. she'd literally just survived an assassination attempt and didn't change any of her behaviour, really, she just started doing it in a different country. then she joined a public security and intelligence organization. bell is not very good at being undercover.

60 questions that can be made into an OC ask game, or you can just fill everything out yourself to get to know your character a little bette
[33] What are one of their fondest and most treasured memories?
it's not exactly a fond memory (especially given her current situation) but definitely a treasured memory -- after her father died, willabell and all of her eight siblings slept in the same bed in a big pile for a good week so none of them felt alone. she doesn't remember whose decision it was, but she's pretty sure they just decided to do it together like they'd all had the same thought. it's one of bell's formative memories of her sense of her family and where she belongs in it, and that memory of togetherness is partially why she's having such a hard time not trusting her siblings now. she feels very deeply that they belong together.
[34] Do they have vices they don't want others to know about?
oh, tons. willabell wears most of her vices on her sleeve -- she's paranoid and a bit ignorant, she has a lot of repressed rage that comes out when she fights, she would honestly rather fight than talk it out (she knows that talking things out is the right thing to do, but it's scary in a way she had hoped it would stop being once she learned how to physically defend herself). she's pretty needy for reassurance. but one thing she would never ever admit to anyone, because it's scandalous and mortifying, is the fact that she has a thing for saucy romance novels.
also she's a monsterfucker. she rolls extremely high on every "how hot is this npc" roll that she makes face to face with some huge beastperson that could eat her (and sometimes, threatens to explicitly) and she would literally rather die than admit that. she's a Proper Lady, damn it.
[40] How picky they are with food, do they have specific dietary requirements based on their health or culture?
bell isn't too picky! she's used to eating well (on account of being a princess) so she might make a little pained face when faced with something kind of gross, but she'll eat anything. unlike cats, tabaxi are omnivores, but they do still prefer meat, and willabell's favourite food is smoked fish. she's also a fan of eggs, crab legs, sweet pastries with jam and clotted cream, and vanilla custard. her favourite meal of the day is breakfast.
thanks for asking!!! >:D
More quick drawings! Dehja, a character my girlfriend is guesting in Soren's campaign with, Alex, our party wizard/rogue, and Willabell getting some quality dad time in with Vyth.
