Wow, some Byler & Curse of Strahd parallels
All of us remember how THIS both metaphorically and literally queer, vampire Mike sent Will to the city of Vallaki as his 'happily ever after.'
To Vallaki, where Will can forget about Hawkins, forget about Mike, and finally find love in someone else.
Guess who else is sent to Vallaki in Curse of Strahd? Ireena Kolyana— the reincarnation of Strahd’s deep, doomed love. The woman he pursued. She was sent to Vallaki to be safe from Strahd's gaze.
With all due respect, Homothron7000, could you please stop pushing Will away? You don't need to save him from your affections. He loves you back. I repeat: he loves you back.
THE DUFFERS CAN PRY WONDER TWINS FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS IM NOT LETTING THEM GO.
the way we specifically get a close up of mike’s reaction to will putting his hand in and no close up reaction to lucas or dustin (as we can see so far) or anything. they are literally trying to again promote the message that their relationship is different to the others in the party’s relationships and mike views will differently than he views lucas for example

I've Said It Before and I'll Say It Again: Will's Epilogue is Cheap
I had not lived in the 80s but anyone with the slightest knowledge of queer culture would know their scene back then was tailor made for Will.
Queerness and art went hand in hand. The art scene was a bustling capital for queer folk. Jonathan himself went to NYU which archived LGBTQ art (and literature). In neighborhood such as SoHo, East Village and Greenwich Village, queer art galleries blossomed. Gay clubs welcomed visual arts (among drag and music) as entertainment.
You couldn't seperate art from queerness.
And what did the writers do? Seperated art from queerness in the artist's storyline.
I don't care if we can easily draw the interpretation that Will was in the queer art scene, it shouldn't be up to interpretation in the first place. They should've shown his career & passion in his conclusion; as well as meeting a nice guy in circumstances that suit him. Not just put the gay one in a gay bar and call it a day.
