Quick little build of the tank engine Gladstone from the 1937 movie "Oh, Mr. Porter!" starring Will Hay.
I first learned of Will Hay's films from Tom Marshall of Photogra-fix. Tom's also the founder of the Will Hay Appreciation Society, which is dedicated to preserving the legacy of his work. If you like to watch classic British comedy I highly recommend watching them!
This version of Gladstone is more in style of her all cleaned up in her hay day, I hope you enjoy!

Will Hay, Moore Marriott, and Graham Moffatt in Oh Mr Porter (1937), directed by Marcel Varneil.  Marcel was born in Paris and had 38 director credits, from 1932 to 1946. None of his other credits are worth noting, although he directed other British comedies with Will Hay in the 30s.

Another Sunday morning another movie, the classic Will Hay comedy, Ask a Policeman.
Interesting fact, Will Hay was a keen amateur astronomer.
Will Hay stars as the jocular headmaster Dr Muffin.
Here is a link to the first episode of the second series of “The Will Hay Programme- The Diary of a Schoolmaster”. It might be the only remaining episode in the BBC radio archive. Sad really, as it’s a charming sitcom that features the forgotten Will Hay in his quintessential role as a befuddled & corruptible headmaster of the fourth form. There is one other circulating episode of this radio Britcom that I know of. It’s the first episode of the first series.  Â
