summary: Shawn meets his new boss’ fiance

Letting out a deep breath, I clasp my diamond necklace around my neck. The noise downstairs reminds me of the event I’m meant to be attending and I sigh. I grab my clutch and carefully head down the stairs to the crowds of people. I step of the last step and make my way over to my partner talking to a few other people. I place my hand on his arm and he turns his head and smiles when he sees me.

“Sweetie, you look absolutely breathtaking” Derek smiles, kissing me on the cheek.

“Thank you, honey” I reply.

“This here is my business partner, Marvin. He runs the financial side of the business and makes sure all the books are up to date and on track” he explains as I shake Marvin’s hand.

“Sounds like a very interesting job. You’d definitely be kept on your toes” I state and he nods his head.

“It’s lovely to meet you. I’m going to go over to the bar and get myself a drink” I smile, leaning up to kiss Derek’s cheek. I turn around and walk over to the bar and lean against it.

I watch as the bartender pours drinks for people and he slowly makes his way towards me. I frown when I realise he isn’t in the usual bartender uniform.

“You aren’t meant to be behind there. You aren’t a bartender” I say.

“Yet I’m attending to your bar needs” he replies and I laugh slightly.

“Well then pour me the strongest drink possible” I say. He shrugs his shoulders and starts to make me a drink and I watch in awe.

I laugh as I drink my third drink of the night, talking to the cute bartender who kept making me strong drinks. I jump when I feel a hand on my waist. I look up to see Derek and he smiles at me.

“There you are. You left an hour ago to get a drink and you’re still at the bar” Derek says and I nod.

“I know and I’m sorry. I got caught up talking and drinking” I say.

Derek nods his head and looks up to meet the eyes of the unqualified bartender serving drinks.

“Shawn! I see you’ve met my beautiful fiancé” Derek grins. I look up at Shawn who has his eyebrows raised.

“This is y/n? It’s an honour to meet you. I’ve heard quite the talk about you. It’s nice to put a face to a name” he smiles, holding out his hand. I gladly shake it and can’t help but to bite my lip.

“I do hope all this talk are good things” I state, looking over at my fiancé who just nods.

“Of course, baby. You know only good things come out of my mouth about you. Shawn is one of our new clients” Derek says as I pull my hand away from Shawn. I grab onto Derek and smile at Shawn.

“It’s lovely to meet you. You’ll have to join us for dinner one night. I like to try and get to know some of Derek’s clients” I say and he nods his head.

“I’d love to” he states.

“There you are!” Derek exclaims as I show up to the table.

“I know, I’m late and I am so sorry. The wedding planner had some last-minute ideas and I got side tracked. But I’m here” I ramble, giving him a kiss.

I sit down next to me soon-to-be-husband and see that my food is waiting for me. I smile and say a quick grace before digging in.

“How did you know that I was going to order pasta?” I ask.

“I just took a guess and I know you’ve been craving some kind of carbs lately” Derek answers causing me to smile.

“How is everyone tonight?” I ask, looking at our guests.

“Doing quite well, thank you” Clive smiles.

“I don’t mean to be rude but how long have you two been together for?” Shawn questions and I raise my eyebrows.

“It’s the age difference that you can see” Derek says and I let out a breath.

“We’ve been together for three years and engaged for the past year. Derek and I met when I was just nineteen” I explain and he nods.

“You’re not the first person to ask and you won’t be the last. There’s a 20 year difference between us, if that’s what you’re wondering” I add.

“No way! Derek looks like he’s only 32” Clive says causing me to laugh. I grab Derek’s hand and he gives it a squeeze.

Summary: Y/n hosts a Halloween party. Shawn decides he and Y/n play their own little game.

Warnings: Little smut, little cursing.

 I let out a giggle as I open my door to see Brian, Shawn and Geoff standing on the other side.

“Trick or treat bitches!” Brian exclaims as I open the door.

Y/f/n and I look at each other before bursting into giggles at the sight of the three boys that stand before us. Brian is dressed as a mob boss, Geoff went with the vampire look and Shawn has come as a bloody zombie doctor.

“Don’t you boys look handsome! Come on in. There’s alcohol in the kitchen and snacks are on the tables set up” I greet.

The boys enter, each giving me a kiss on the cheek and y/f/n a quick high five. I shut the door and turn to her and giggle once again.

“This night is going to get good. Especially if he’s in that mood” she states, and I nod in agreement.

“I love the whole sexy wizard of oz look you’ve got going on. Especially the shoes. I love them” I state, looping our arms together.

“Thank you. I see you went with Cher this year. You look hot as hell. Shawn must agree because his eyes keep giving you a look over” she says. I shrug my shoulders and let go of her. We part ways and spend the next few hours dancing, drinking and playing a few games.

“Hey, Simon wants to play Suck and Blow” y/f/n says.

“I think I’ll pass” I say, waving her off.

“Come on Y/N! We both know the boys will be playing and I know you wouldn’t mind getting a chance to kiss Shawn” she states, causing me to sigh.

“Alright grab the cards and make the announcement” I say.

Y/f/n cheers and walks over to the stereo. She pauses the music and stands up on a near-by chair. “Out on the deck we’re going to play suck and blow. If you want to be apart of the game, make your way out there now” she calls. She steps off the chair and starts the music back up before heading out to the deck. I meet her out there and stand beside her waiting for everyone else to join us.

Once we make a circle, I grab the deck of cards and pull one from the deck. “So, you all know the rules. Inhale to hold the card to your lips, pass it to the person on your right. If you drop the card, you must kiss the person next to you on your right. To make things a little more interest, the card then must be ripped in half” I announce.

I press the card to my lips and inhale, turning to the person on my right who seems to be y/f/n. As the game goes on, we add another card into the game. So many laughs have happened as friends kiss friends, ex’s kiss ex’s and crushes kiss crushes. One card is the size of a quarter whilst the other has been ripped in half only once. I turn my head to receive the card from Shawn but watch as it falls from his lips. He smirks and leans in to kiss me. I accept the kiss and quickly pull away, clearing my throat.

“I’m going to exit the game and get myself another drink” I state, stepping back and going inside.

I stand in the kitchen, mixing myself something involving tequila. All I can think of is the kiss with Shawn and how soft his lips felt. How sweet they tasted. The way he cupped my face so gently as if I would break. I’m shaken out of my thoughts when laughter fills the kitchen. I look up to find my friends coming in and I smile at them. Shawn walks up to me and grins down at me as he reaches for a cup.

“So I was thinking we could play our own game later on” he says.

I raise my eyebrows as I pick up my drink. “What type of game?” I ask.

“You’ll see” he winks, pouring alcohol into his cup.

I frown slightly and push myself off the counter. I down the rest of my drink and drop the cup onto the bench. “That’s me done. I’m off to bed. Don’t worry about cleaning up. I will do that in the morning” I state.

I give y/f/n a hug and wave to the boys. “Enjoy the rest of your night. You all look hot and awesome” I smile.

I close my bedroom door behind my and take off my yellow check jacket. There’s a knock on my door and I groan. “It’s open” I call, slipping off my shoes.

The door opens, and I look up to see Shawn. He enters my room and shuts the door behind me.

“Make it quick. I’m about to go for a shower. You know where the excess alcohol is kept along with the extra food. Yes, you lot can stay over” I ramble, walking towards my en suite.

“You know us so well. Especially me” he says, as I walk into my bathroom.

“That’s because you’re my boys. I look after you. Now don’t forget to shut the door behind you” I call, removing my shirt.

“But who looks after you?” he questions. I frown and pause with my skirt halfway down my thighs.

“What do you mean?” I ask as I continue to remove my skirt. It drops to the floor and I turn on the taps. When I don’t hear an answer, I just assume he left the room. I let out a breath when I feel two hands on my hips.

“I mean, who takes care of you and your needs? Who looks after you to make sure you’re doing ok?” he asks, his breath fanning my ear.

“I’m fine, Shawn. I’ve got me. You know this” I answer, he raises his eyebrows and shrugs.

We both undress and climb into the shower. I wash off my makeup and the fake blood on his skin. Letting out a breath, I stare at the renovation plans I had been given. Remodelling the house room by room isn’t something I’d like to do with my time, but since Derek hasn’t returned from his business trip and it doesn’t look like he will be any time soon, I’m stuck with all the plans and colourings. I drop the plans onto the office desk and pick up my phone to Facetime Shawn. He picks up and I smile at him and how perfect he looks through the skin. I shake my head slightly, getting rid of those thoughts from my head. I’m spoken for, I’m in love with someone else for goodness sake.

“Hey honey, whats up?” he asks and I let out a sigh.

“Renovation plans. Derek hasn’t returned home so I am stuck with them. What are you doing?” I ask.

“Studio with a few producers and writers” he answers and I smile slightly.

“Oh means new music is coming. I can’t wait to hear what you’ve come up with” I state.

“I’m excited to show you the stuff I’ve been working on. You look really good today, by the way. Red suits you” he says and I feel a blush coming on.

“Thank you. I’ll let you get going to work on those tunes that I am so excited to hear. Bye sweetie” I smile.

 I hear the doorbell ring and quickly race down the stairs to open the front door. My mouth drops open to see Derek standing there with his bags and I grin.

“You’re home! Why didn’t you call to pick you up?” I ask, throwing my arms around him.

“I wanted to surprise you” he replies and I grin.

“Come on. Let’s take your stuff upstairs and you can unpack tomorrow. I want to catch up with you” I state.

 We lie in bed laughing and exchanging day to day details the next morning as the sun rays creep into the bedroom. The laughter dies down and I stare at him and smile. It’s times like this that I miss. Reminds me how easy the start of our relationship was. How relaxing it felt and how free we were. I press a kiss to his mouth, and he leans into me deepening it. Summary: Brunch dates and new friends

I look up from the menu to see Shawn and his friend walking towards the table and I grin, I quickly get up and greet him by pulling him into a hug. We pull away and smile at each other.

“Hi” I greet.

“Hi” he smiles.

We stare at each other before stepping apart.

“This is Brian. Brian this is Y/n” Shawn introduces, and I smile shaking his hand.

“I’ve heard a lot about you” I say.

“And vice versa. It’s nice to put a face to the name” he says.

We sit down, and I introduce all my friends to them and we all order our food.

“Have you heard from Derek?” Shawn asks, and I shake my head.

“Not yet. He’s pretty busy and the time difference isn’t exactly ideal but I’m sure I will. I miss him though” I answer.

Our food arrives and everyone is having their own little conversations with each other, various categories being discussed.

“How was your date last night?” I ask and Shawn shrugs.

“Not too bad but I felt there was something missing. I don’t think I will ask her out again” he explains and I nod my head.

“If you tell me what you’re looking for, I can maybe help you out” I say, biting into my toast.

“I’ll let you know. But thanks” he smiles.

“I’m going to the bathroom. Y/n, come with me” Olivia, one of my friends, says.

I get up and follow her. Once we got in there she touched up her lipstick and then proceeded to face me.

“What the hell are you doing?” she asks and I frown confused.

“What are you talking about?” I ask.

“You’re engaged and you’re out here flirting with another man. Though I don’t support who you’re going to marry, I do know that I won’t let you emotionally cheat on him. We all notice the flirtation between you and Shawn” she says and I sigh.

“I’m not emotionally cheating. We’re friends. I wouldn’t do that to Derek and neither would Shawn. It’s nice to have someone my own age around all the time. it’s refreshing. I enjoy his company, his personality, his jokes. I enjoy him being around. Derek knows we hang out. He’s ok with it. He trusts us. I trust us. Do I miss being treated like a queen? Yes. Do I miss being flirted with? Yes. Do I miss being stared at just because I’m found interesting and not because I look good? Yes. But none of that means that I would step out on my soon-to-be-husband. I invited Shawn and his friend to mingle with us because I wanted him to meet you guys. To show him that my life doesn’t revolve around Derek and his needs. Olivia, I love you, but next time just don’t come in swinging unless you have all of the facts” I state.

I exit the bathroom and go back out to my friends. I grab my bag and jacket and smile apologetically.

“I’m sorry to do this guys but I have to go. I have a few things to do this morning, so I’ll see you all next week” I say, dropping my money on the table.

I walk away from them, anger surging through me at the thought of my friends doubting my faithfulness to my partner. Instead of going straight home, I go and do some shopping, get my hair and nails done. I even go and have a massage to avoid going back to the empty house and the wicked ex-wife in the backyard. Eventually I do though. I lock the house behind me and head up to my bedroom to run myself a bath.

Summary: Shawn’s drunk and sopping wet and turns up to his former crush’s, Y/n, door.

“What the hell are you doing here? And why are you sopping wet?” I ask, one hand on my hip and the other holding my front door open.

“I am drunk, and Brian wouldn’t pick up and it’s raining and I started to think of you and I don’t know why I thought this would be a good idea” he answers. I frown and let out a sigh before stepping to the side. “Take off your shoes and follow me” I say.

Shawn does as he’s told, and we head up to my bedroom. We get to my room and I go into the bathroom to grab a towel, when I come out though Shawn is standing naked next to me bed. I stop and cross my arms. “Why the hell are you naked?” I ask. He looks at me and shrugs his shoulders.

“Because my clothes are wet, I’m tired and I want to sleep” he answers. I just stare at him and couldn’t help but laugh as I walk over to him. I wrap the towel around him and go to step back when he grabs onto my arms, pulling me closer to him.

“I’m a mess. I have the perfect place with the perfect view, a ton of albums and wonderful fans. What I don’t have is the girl and the white picket fence” he whispers. I swallow thickly as we stare at each other. I pull away and clear my throat. “I’ll put your clothes in the dryer. I’ll be right back” I say.

I pick up his wet clothes and make my way to my laundry. I place his clothes into the dryer and turn it on, then leaning against the bench. Shawn Mendes; heartthrob, multi-platinum artist, former friend and heartbreaker is currently drunk and naked in my bedroom. How the hell did I let this happen? All I had to do is turn him away. Tell him to go to his sisters or someone else. But instead I let him into my house and back into my life. I realise how long I’ve been standing here for and go back up to my room only to find him in my bed. I smile and walk over to him and pull the covers up over his chest. This movement causes him to open his eyes and smile at me.

“What took you so long? Crawl into bed with me” he pouts. I sigh as he pulls me onto the bed and proceeds to cuddle me.

“I want you to marry me” Shawn mumbles as he falls back to sleep.

Summary: Derek accepts his fate.

“Baby I need you to listen to me” he says, rubbing his eyes.

It’s about 2am in the morning and no one has gotten a wink of sleep. I’ve made him explain slowly and in detail his secret affairs on his business trip. First he lied about how they got their, then he changed his story to wrong jacket, and then finally admits to cheating on me.

“I don’t understand what made you turn to another woman. What made you open the door for our home to be wrecked. What made you decide you no longer loved me. Did I do something? Did you just wake up and realise that you’re getting married in a few months time and you wanted to live out a bachelor life while you still could? I don’t get it. I was all about you. Men my age biting at my heels, wanting to hook up, wanting to chat me up. But I voided them because I love you. I don’t understand what went wrong” I state, tears rolling down my cheeks.

“I promise it was a mistake” he states.

“A mistake that lasted two weeks? You don’t really love me. If you did you wouldn’t have cheated. You would’ve stayed faithful. You never wanted to get married again, and I was fine with that. But then somewhere down the track you changed your mind or so I thought you did. But maybe you didn’t really change your mind after all” I scoff.

“Let’s work this out. I’ll do anything to earn you and your trust and your love back. Please, baby, don’t make any rash decisions” Derek pleads, grabbing my hands and getting down on his knees.

I step back and pull my hands away from him. He sits there and stares at me whilst I wipe my tears.

“We’re over, Derek. Nothing you say or do will ever fix this” I state.

DEREK SEEN WITH EX-WIFE AND SON

I let out a breath as I shut off the television, seeing the many headlines since the leak of my split with Derek. It’s been six months since we’ve split. Six months since I’ve seen him. Six months since I’ve heard from him. Six months since I’ve left my house. Six months of crying. That’s all changed though. Today I’m breaking my silence on our breakup.

 “So it’s been six months since anybody has heard anything from you since announcing your split with Derek Rouge. How are you?” Cindy questions and I smile at her.

“I’m doing better. I’ve had time to try and heal and to process things and to realise what I want in life” I answer.

“Rumour has it that he changed his mind” she says and I shrug my shoulders.

“All rumours have some sense of truth to them. But I guess when you turn to someone else, that does signal changing ones mind. But I left him not the other way around. I loved him for a very long time but things change” I state.

“What happened? Were you using him for money? Was his ex-wife involved?” she asks and I shake my head.

“We met when I was young, and we had a decent age gap that everyone looked down upon, including his ex-wife but she had nothing to do with it. I wasn’t using him for the money. I genuinely loved him. I don’t totally understand when things shifted in our relationship, there was no verbal communication on his end if things had shifted. It was his physical actions that grabbed my attention. He went away for a business trip and decided he no longer loved me the way we thought he did” I answer, tears rimming in my eyes.

“I genuinely loved him and I know for a time of our relationship, he loved me too. I wish him well” I state, with a small smile.

 I smile when I see a familiar face at my local café and can’t help but let out a breath. I walk over to him and he looks up from his cup.

“You’ve been avoiding me” Shawn says as I slide in across from him.

“I’ve been dealing with things. I’ve been trying to heal myself and my heart” I explain.

“How did the conversation happen when he told you his feelings had changed?” Shawn asks.

“He didn’t. instead I found a pair of lace panties in his suit jacket, and they didn’t belong to me. He cheated on me, for two weeks straight. And proceeded to try and hide it” I explain, my eyes welling up again.

“Gosh I’m so sick of crying. It’s been six months and I’m still so emotional over it” I say, wiping my tears.

“He broke your heart and your trust, Y/n. It’s ok to feel like this still” Shawn says.

“We were meant to be on our honeymoon last week. I’m devastated that he cheated. I’m annoyed at myself I didn’t see it coming. I am annoyed at myself for feeling a change of feelings and not saying everything. There are things I should have done to prevent this” I state.

“Hey, it’s not up to you to stop someone from cheating. If he was as loyal as he said he was, he wouldn’t have had an affair” Shawn says and I nod in agreement.

Summary: Things aren’t always so rosy

It’s been 6 months since Shawn became a new client. Him and Derek get along quite well and so he often spends a lot of time at our house. It just happens that Derek has invited him over for lunch with a few of our close friends.

“Darling, Shawn just got here” Derek calls out of the back door. I wave him off to signal that I heard him and go back to tanning by the pool.

After a while I decide to go inside only to find my partner, Shawn and another girl sitting at the table.

“Is Clive not joining us? Or the Hawthorne’s?” I ask.

“No, Clive has gone to Russia and the Hawthorne’s had to reschedule” Derek answers and I nod my head.

“I get it. They are newlyweds after all” I answer.

“Lunch will be ready in a few minutes” Derek informs me and I smile at him, I press a kiss to his head and leave the kitchen to go put on some clothes.

“This is my sister Aliyah” Shawn introduces as I sit down across from him. I smile at her and start to dig in to my lunch.

“Wine, Miss Y/n?” Gerard, our butler, asks as he holds the bottle of red.

“No she’ll have some juice. We’re currently trying for a baby” Derek answers.

“Oh wow that’s exciting!” Aliyah politely says.

“Derek can’t and won’t stop telling people. We’re not married yet but he still wants to start trying” I inform them.

“That’s exciting for you guys. Any further details of the wedding been planned yet?” Shawn asks, taking a sip of his drink.

“We have picked the location. The food. The reception. The invitations and the flowers” I answer.

“Well, Y/n picked everything out. I’m happy to marry her in the backyard with a few friends in all honesty” Derek states, digging into his steak.

“But you’ve put in some effort in the wedding planning?” Shawn asks and I shake my head.

“No, it’s just myself and our wedding planner making the decisions” I answer.

“Babe, we’ve discussed this. I’m happy if you’re happy” Derek says causing me to sigh and put on a fake smile.

  “Are you ready?” Shawn asks me from the bathroom.

“Nearly, just trying to put my shoes on” I answer, crossing my legs.

“Here I’ll come and help” Shawn says, walking out of the bathroom. He bends down and slips my kitten heels on my feet and looks up from his position on the ground.

“You look so good from where I am” he says causing me to laugh.

He presses a kiss to my leg before standing up. He holds out his hand, take it and he helps me up.

“Let’s attend this award show” I state.

We climb out of the limo together and the crowd cheers at the sight of him. We walk the carpet together, pictures being snapped, yelling from the paps and the crowd deafening our eyes.

I look to him and he smiles at me.

“Are you ready?” he asks and I nod my head.

I place my left hand, with a bright engagement ring, on my 4 month bump and Shawn places his hand on top of it. The crowd goes crazy and so does the flashing. I look at Shawn who just grins at me before we move along.

The interviewers start calling his name and we walk over to a few, answering questions before getting to the next one, Cindy who interviewed me after my split with Derek.

“I’m not too sure if anyone noticed but Y/n has an engagement ring on her finger” Cindy said and Shawn nods his head.

“She does. We’ve been together for the past year and I proposed to her 6 months ago. We kept it all on the downlow” he answers.

“You both are glowing and Y/n you look happier than ever” Cindy says and I smile before looking up at Shawn and nodding at him.

“We also have another announcement” Shawn says. I smile and place my hand on my belly.

“We’re having a baby” I announce. Her mouth drops open before turning to the camera.

“You’re hearing it here first and live, Y/n and Shawn Mendes are pregnant” Cindy says.

We move on and as I look up, my eye catches Derek. He says something to the person he’s talking to before walking over.

“Y/n. Shawn” he says, and I nod my head.

“Derek” I respond.

“I hear congratulations are in order, on your engagement and your pregnancy” he says.

“They are. We’re very happy and very excited for this” Shawn smiles.

“I wish you both extreme happiness and luck in your future” Derek says with a smile.

“thank you. Same to you” I answer, grabbing Shawn’s hand.

Derek walks away and I look up to my future husband.

“I love you. I am happy you’re the one I’m marrying. The man who is fathering my child. Thank you” I state.
