The biggest factor of the fatal blackpill of MCYTblr is when mcytblr become more mainstream with time and accretion from more casual fans.

It is important to note that an influx of casual fans is not bad. In many cases, it changes the fandom for the better. The problem is when original members are ostracized by the new crowd and their new fandom landscape. People on the side of casual fans will say that old members should, essentially, keep up with the times. But people on the side of the original fans should ask in response, how do they keep up with the times?

[[Fandom has no conception of artistic modernity]], because everything is cutting edge.

This ostracization is key in the "[[niche erosion model]]".
