His steps echoed on the art-filled walls as Pietro paced down the marble floor, juggling a single flashlight up and down as dark eyes skimmed the empty corridors lazily, humming a familiar tune. The job had never been his first choice, but it paid the bills – and there weren’t many other options he could take on. Wetting his lips at the thought, he merely blinked as the lights went off, already used to the routine he followed night after night – being the only of his colleagues willing to take on night shifts.

Well, how else was he supposed to spend his nights, asleep? Disregarding the thought with an amused smile, Pietro flicked the torch on with ease, nearly smelling the coffee back at his bag, which caused him to pay far less attention to his surroundings than he should – and so, nearly missing the shadowy figure of someone standing at the back of the room. At first glance, it was easy to mistake the silhouette with a sculpture – and yet, as it moved, Pietro sharply shone a light its way, drawing both brows together at a blonde girl, most likely around his age. 

Taken aback by the presence of someone else, brown eyes studied her features for a solid moment, most likely looking for any signs of a threat, such as firearms and similars. “You can’t be here, we just closed.” He soundly announced, stiff tone, visibly unhappy at the unexpected turn the beginning of his night was taking. Resting a hand on the side of his belt, Pietro took a few steps towards her, jaw clenching as his eyes darted past the dimly-lit figure, making sure there was no one else hiding around.

        The whole court knew that Gwenhwyfach had only been summoned for one purpose. She was to face judgement, informal though it may be, from her sister for daring to marry without permission. For daring to marry Arthur’s bastard. And yet, her shoulders remained squared, chin tipped up ever so slightly. She would not allow Guinevere or her court to shame her, no matter how many times she heard her name whispered in the corridor. She loved her husband, it didn’t matter how it had started.
