it will never not be funny to me that when Leonardo wants attention he goes and drapes himself over Tello, the turtle who, despite being his twin and best friend, is also the most likely to hunt him for sport over one (1) minor annoyance and sometimes already in a mood to consider any physical contact a Threat

I just know that Leonardo called Usagi babygirl and none of the teens believe he ever dated a girl so they're not sure exactly what was going on with Leonardo's love life but they're all surprised he ever actually dated someone never mind got married
Hi I am requestion everything I can on reality check please it has been chewing through my mental walls for days I can’t hold out much longer oh god they’ve breached the walls ily byeeeee
Your intros are amazing. Also this is officially a load-bearing post because this is the first official in-depth development of the Little Leos! Henceforth known as the blueberries.
So in the order in which the blueberries are found, an absolute text wall about which I'll be happy to answer more questions. Part one, anyway, because... apparently tumblr has a character limit. That I hit. Huh. Part two is in the reblogs, I'll edit a link in here.
Leo, 14, gets to keep his name! Because he's the first one found, Leonardo has not yet realised that "we can't have 15 people with the same name". And honestly it seems like the kid has lost enough considering zombies were using him as a chew toy and he has to get his arm amputated. This is also the lil' guy whose twin is still alive! Zombies in this universe were engineered to seek out mystic energy, so Lil' Don made what's basically a signal jammer. It's used sparingly in emergencies, but being cornered by a horde certainly counted. So when Tello started searching universes, it seemed like Leo was the only one left alive in that universe. (Which also means that to Leo, Don literally comes back from the dead to avenge him via sheer intelligence and rage.)
Pilot Hamato Leonardo, 22, usually goes by his last name. His universe is basically a Pacific Rim AU where the entirety of the surface world was destroyed and the yokai built huge mechs in an attempt to save what was left once the creatures started burrowing to get to the Hidden City. He's also the youngest of his family, who actively prevented him being accepted as a pilot cadet despite how much he wanted it. He didn't realise they were protecting him and resented them for what he saw as infantilizing behaviour. And then a huge strike from the creatures wiped out most of the Hidden City Mech Corps (HCMC) and the higher-ups scrambled to activate all possible personnel. This did not go well for all the unprepared newbies suddenly flung into combat and Pilot Hamato has, shall we say, scars and trauma. He's still not sure that being rescued was the best thing for him but he suddenly sees all the other little blues as Certified Baby and equally suddenly realises that he's now in his older brothers' position of being a protector. There's more emotional trauma involved.
Baby Blue is named such because he's seven years old and absolutely Certified Baby. He also refuses to tell anyone his name so they had to come up with something and Leonardo is ... not adept at naming things. He was separated from his family and was also quite sure that they would be coming to find him. Which is why he trusted Leonardo and Tello when he first saw them. Until Tello explained that their tech brought them here because there's none of Baby Blue's family left to find him. That puts him in emotional shutdown for long enough that Leonardo gets absolutely panicky. Eventually he comes out of his shell a little, both literally and figuratively, but they all know he's never the same as he was when they first found him and he was looking forward to seeing his dad again.
Sixteen-year-old Sunflower keeps a nickname their family already had for them, because of their unfailing optimism. Even after losing everything and everyone they knew, they've still got hope! But what they need is someone to tell them it's okay to cry tbh, because like. There's a point where not letting yourself express anything negative means an absolute brickload of emotional shutdown. They're not admitting that but Leonardo has seen enough coping mechanisms that he knows mental walls when he sees them. Despite their need for emotional regulation (which they think they have because they aren't constantly having mental breakdowns over the trauma of the apocalypse) they are doing better than you might expect! Once they have a few of those mental breakdowns anyway. Leonardo gets used to crying teenagers quicker than he thought but Tello never fails to bail out the window at the first sign of tears.
Alpha, at nineteen, is what you might call an absolute fucking problem. In a world where Lou Jitsu died at the lab, Draxum raised the turtles as weapons of war and turned them against each other to see who was the strongest. Alpha, uh. May've killed all three of them and then got sent out to Winter Soldier people. Somehow he's not as much of a threat as you'd think from reading that. He's actually genuinely scared of most of the other blueberries! Because they are extremely fragile and he is extremely good at killing. (At least until Cobalt comes along. More on that later.) He works out most of his emotions on punching bags and sparring with Tello, because they never complain about him biting and Leonardo's generally busy parenting. It would probably be better for everyone if he tried to be well-adjusted instead of a nightmare, but instead he thinks it's better for the blues to have an attack dog to protect them even when Tello can't be there.
Unicorn is twelve years old and named herself after her favourite animal. Shredder arrived early, in this universe, and the turtles weren't nearly prepared enough to fight him. Splinter, Raph, and Donnie all died trying to protect the youngest siblings, and somehow Unicorn and Orange managed to get away. But then they got separated while running away from Shredder and she hasn't seen her favourite brother since. She hoped that the new turtles showing up would help her look... but then they told her that he was dead. This new information was not welcome and she refused to believe it for a long time. Tello considered finding evidence that Orange had died, but Leonardo put a stop to that with holy shit Tello we can't show her the body of her little brother and fortunately that helped Tello realise it was in fact a bad plan. Instead Leonardo, Tello, and Unicorn stayed at her lair for a week until she finally accepted that Orange would've been back by then if he was still alive.
As of yesterday, twenty-six-year-old Commander Hamato is the last living member of the resistance. He is not handling that well. At least in this world, he wasn't responsible for any of it. Not that he's very good at accepting that, but Leonardo is helping him get there. In the meantime, he wants to get distance between himself and the Hamato name (and all the dead loved ones he shares it with). He and Leonardo workshop some ideas and end up calling him Vanilla. Because he wants a plain vanilla life (Tello is hollering about this defamation of their favourite flavour) and might as well literally have it in his name! He's standoffish toward the others but he's had ten years of experience running a rebellion so he's a great help with orchestrating day care for the blueberries.
love how wify canon is that Tello sets themself up to look like some lurking terminator-y shadow creature threat, and while everyone else is like holy shit what is that thing will it try to eat us? there's five-foot-nothing bedraggled-wet-cat-vibes Casey just "Entle Tello! <3" fully expecting that he's going to get a hug

I love wify Leonardo being like "what if we never talked about how I emotional traumatised you again and instead I just brutally murder people trying to hurt you"
What’s the most trouble Tello and Junebug have gotten into together?
Bonus kitten bribe (her name is babygirl atm)
She IS babygirl just LOOK at her 🥺
So the thing about Jr is that his mom is *gestures vaguely at canon*. He's a mama's boy, and Tello is his second favourite family member, and that means he's absolutely bonkers.
Tello is delighted with this, because they're a chaos gremlin and they like having another chaos gremlin around.
Leonardo doesn't think this could really cause any problems, because Tello wouldn't get too wild with a little kid in tow. He's wildly incorrect.
He first realises this when a smoking, on-fire, bullet-shooting drone half the size of a car basically falls out of the sky and explodes. Not unusual in and of itself... but this particular drone had Junebug along for the ride, giggling and shrieking the whole way. He gets a jetpack ride out of danger at the last second, but it was much too close for Leonardo's comfort.
At first, Leonardo is horrified, because he has no idea how Casey could have slipped past Tello's sophisticated defences to accidentally hitch a joyride on some weird kamikaze drone.
He then hears that Casey begged and puppy-eyed his way into getting just what he wanted: Tello equipping a six-year-old with body armour and a jetpack, and letting him take a ride on the death drone on purpose.
Tello has a lot to say about how aghast Leonardo is. The odds of danger were carefully calculated! Everything was fine! He had a jetpack! Stop worrying you blue weirdo!
Casey Jr has a lot of fun with his near-death experience.
Casey Sr jumps Tello with a rusty machete and her teeth.
honestly the funniest part about Reality Check is that Tello is still A Twin, and therefore closely bonded, and is also still affectionate when allowed to engage on their own terms
so there's times where they scream YOU DUMB BITCH across the lair and then two minutes later they're curled up under Leonardo's arm starting to fall asleep cause it's still where they feel safest
Leonardo is never exactly sure what's going on, but this cranky purple weirdo is as dear to him as any of the blueberries, somehow
