Find Wi-Fi hotspot for free on Android with Wifi Mapper application
Its application OpenSignal Wifi Mapper has launched for Android, enabling users to find the Wi-Fi hotspot for free to save your 3G traffic.
Once launched on iOS in May 5/2015, recently inaugurated OpenSignal Wifi Mapper application on Android. Wifi Mapper is an application that helps you find and use the Wi-Fi hotspot for free in surrounding neighborhoods. Currently users can download and use this app for free from the Google Play Store.
Since the App Store two months ago to now, Wifi Mapper reached number downloads of over 155,000 downloads (as announced by Brendan Gill – CEO OpenSignal). The company also expects that their application will gain similar success on Google’s operating system. According to its statement, in their database is up to 500 million Wi-Fi hotspot in the world. OpenSignal said that this is their advantage over rivals.
Wifi Mapper was developed mainly based on contributions from the user community. When in a certain area, if found to have Wi-Fi hotspot for free, users will add the address of the Wi-Fi network into WiFi Mapper to notify others know. In addition, users can also assign informed that a Wi-Fi hotspot that is private network or to capture new fee for use. The application is also capable of determining the quality of Wi-Fi hotspot (speed, latency, and other performance indicators).
Brendan Gill – said CEO of OpenSignal on Techcrunch, the company was delighted by the enthusiastic reception of users with their apps. According to Gill, at the current stage there were about 10% of users have lost time account registration to contribute the Wi-Fi hotspot to the community. When that did not catch WiFi Mapper users must create a new account to use, this is a huge figure compared to other community projects (usually only 1 to 2% of users contribute, the rest were just like being “used the temple”).
