he’s in the middle of fighting a new big bad when there’s a blinding light and enough sounds to have his senses on overdrive -- and then he’s tumbling out flat on to the pavement, ear ringing and body sore. he must lay there for several minutes, half-blinded before he catches the stares of people around him and he’s dragging himself to his feet. peter goes to web out, but his shooters are malfunctioning, so he stumbles his way down an alley instead, settling somewhat into the shadows and away from obvious view, though not entirely hidden. and it’s stupid, he knows it’s a bad idea, but god he can’t breathe and the sensors in his mask are on the fritz, so he takes it off, the polluted air of new york hitting his nose too hard and making his stomach swirl. but he’s too focused on the faint register of footsteps halting a short distance away, and eyes dart to the end of the alley in a panic, only to see a kid staring.
“uh --” okay, quick, do something, come up with an excuse... “would you believe this is just a costume?”
