The very admirable flag of Madison, WI. (Adopted last year)
from /r/vexillology Top comment: I like the symbolism. Madison is bounded by lakes on the north and south (the blue fields) with a thin isthmus (the diagonal stripe) where most of downtown resides. The cross represents both the four lakes around the city and the shape of the capitol building. It's simple, memorable, recognizable. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the angles of the cross points conflict with the lines of the stripe, if you see what I mean.
