It was a cold winter's morning. The snow was falling as the sun did it's best to keep everything warm.

"we are gathered here today...."

Magnus tunes everyone out as he looks down at the coffin. His heart is torn to pieces as he mourns for his lost love.

"....Ja...."

They were still in the early stages of being a couple. They had just confessed their feelings and had planned their first date after they get rid of Valentine.

All that turned to shit when Valentine had stabbed Jace. The look on Alec's face is something he never wants to witness ever again. He could see the heartbreaking look Alec had when his parabatai rune disappeared.

They managed to reach Jace and Clary in time to witness Clary asking the angel to bring back her mum. Magnus sees Clary jolt as Alec yells out "Clary! No!" Before she carries on.

Now Magnus would never blame Clary for what she did. He can understand why she chose her mum. He definitely would have to. But the other side of him, the darker side as well as Alec wished she had brought Jace back instead.

And now here they are burying pretty much a kid. As was his wishes. He didn't wanna do a typical Shadowhunter funeral as he witnessed a mundane one and felt it was more human. He felt more love in that one then he did in anyone he had ever been to.

Everything becomes a blur as he goes through all his memories of Jace while they lower the blonde into the ground.

He turns his head as he feels someone stand behind him. It's Aldertree who is crying surprisingly.

"it's not telling someone you love them that is the hardest part. It's the letting them go no matter how hard you try. Jace told me there was one thing Valentine used to always say....to love is to destroy and-"

"to be loved is to be the one destroyed"

Aldertree pats Magnus on the back before he leaves to talk to everyone else.

He is about to return to his mind when he feels arms go around him. He sees that it's Clary.

"I'm so sorry Magnus but I had to. There was no other way"

"that's okay pumpkin. I understand"

That was the first time he had talked since the incident and he winces at how dry his throat was. As soon as he returns back to the loft he is going to drink himself into Oblivion.

Clary pulls him into a hug and he starts pouring out his emotions. He cries harder as he feels people coming turning it into a group hug.

People watch on as Magnus, Clary, Alec, Izzy, Max, Simon, and Maia turn into a cuddle pile.
