"DISMISSIVE, FACADE"
by Whlgn
Born on Detroit's Eastside, Tony Whlgn [hoo-li-gen] has been consumed by art since an early age and today says he survives as an artist by "by creating unconventional ways for my work to be experienced and made available." A decade ago he and some close friends formed "the Whlgn", pushing each other's imaginations and entrepreneurial spirits and in September, 2018 gratefully accepted an invitation by @1xrun to participate in Detroitâs fourth annual @MuralsInTheMarket festival. Whlgn expressed his thoughts behind this Alfred St mural this way: "Right in front of us are usually the things that matter the most. Wearing False fronts, hiding who we really are behind the mask of our egos, conflicted with showing the world our true Self."Â Â @tonywhlgn/
