The Legend of the White Pumpkin. Part 1 of 3 as promised.... "The first day of three is here so I implore, place your white pumpkins outside your door. Leave them be for three days. The doors without white visits she pays." There was a young lady who's hair was brightest of white but her age was not of such glitter. She loved a nobleman who did not care for white hair but of dark brown. In the woods she cry and those cries of youth attracted a coyote. Behind a tree he watched her and spun his yarn. She said, 'Who is there?' He slyly curved around the tree trunk with cunning smile. 'I can help you but you must listen to me and no one else.' She agreed to do what he said and he gave her a tooth. She held the tooth and walked about to her task. A Doe stopped her and said, 'Animal medicine is for no one who is less than 33. Bury the tooth and you will be free.' The girl replied to the deer, 'But this is for love and love is always truth.' The doe snapped at her, 'You are a naive girl! What you call love is forced will on another! What you see as just, is a child's demand. You go now; bury that tooth and ask a crystal to match your heart with someone willing.' The girl ignored the doe and walked to a clearing to greet a white Elk. She greeted the wise elk and asked, 'May I have your antler for true love?' The Elk replied, 'No you should not practice animal medicine and the coyote's tooth does not work on me. I advise you to stop but if you wish to go on then go ask the crow.' The girl climbed a tree and greeted a crow then asked, 'May I have your foot for true love?' The Crow almost laughed as he replied, 'How old are you? Still not even conscious! From the womb you walked to me and asked for my foot! With the power of a coyote tooth no less. I am insulted! Go away from me child and see the world for what it is. I wait for witches or women of the moon, not sleeping children.' The girl, frustrated and defeated, climbed down the tree and sat by a small pond to cry.
