These Apple, Bacon, and White Cheddar Biscuits are a delicious blend of sweet and savory flavors. These biscuits are the ideal breakfast or brunch treat because of the crisp bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and subtle maple syrup flavoring.
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 tablespoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed. 1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese. 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled. 1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and finely chopped. 1/2 cup buttermilk. 1 egg, beaten. 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves optional.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 425F 220C. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a sizable mixing bowl. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut the cold, cubed butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add the butter to the dry ingredients. Add the chopped apple, crumbled bacon, and shredded white cheddar cheese. Beat the egg, maple syrup, and buttermilk together in a different bowl. Mixing until just combined, pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Keep in mind that the dough should be slightly sticky and avoid overmixing it. After transferring the dough to a floured surface, give it a few gentle kneads to bring it together. Using a round biscuit cutter, pat the dough to a thickness of one inch and cut out biscuits. Transfer the biscuits to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and, if preferred, top with some dried thyme leaves. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through and golden brown, in a preheated oven. Enjoy and warm up!
