Old (but new to me) Exotics!
The weapon that will be discussed today is an old one. It made its debut in the first game and has been a favorite for the Crucible and PVE. The gun I am talking about today will of course be the ‘Whisper of The Worm’ or as it was known in Destiny 1 TTK expansion, the ‘Black Spindle’. But that only goes for the exotic prowess of the weapon. It came out in The Dark Below expansion as the legendary sniper “Black Hammer” a few months after the first games release as a legendary reward from the raid. People loved the gun but it did a little too much for a legendary weapon which is why it was ultimately. This guns success stems from the insanely high impact it has as well as its main perk. This perk is called ‘White Nail’ for all variants of the weapon. When hitting three head-shots repeatedly (whether it be the same high health or multiple enemies) allows the weapon to be fired constantly without reloading until it ultimately runs out of ammo.
The gun is very good looking, especially as it progresses through the games. All the guns are obtained differently though. As said previously the Black Hammer is a reward from the Crotas End raid. But the Black Spindle variant is obtained differently. In order to get it, one would need to wait until a special version of a daily heroic mission comes out. Once this would happen you need to find the secret entrance hidden within the mission and fight a Taken version of a previous strike boss. You would pursuit the boss as a timer for twenty minutes counts down and you have to clear numerous adds. Most of the adds engaged in the mission have an insane amount of health as well as the boss that is a pain to kill.
The Whisper of The Worm came out with the Destiny Two Warmind expansion. The name comes from the boss of the expansion; The Worm God Xol. Which you kill but as it being a divine entity it still lives. To activate the whisper of the worm quest you need to wait on Jupiters moon Io until the taken blight public event shows up. Once it appears a secret boss shows up somewhere in a near area. Once he is found and killed a portal then appears taking you to a location with a timer of twenty minutes. In this twenty minutes you must complete a jumping puzzle (which while doing this you hear the whispers and roars of the worm god Xol). Once you get through that you then need to clear out rooms filled with high health enemies with over shields. After somehow doing that you need to defeat THREE bosses. IF you did everything else quickly that leaves you with about 8-7 minutes left to kill them. While fighting all three bosses at the same time smaller yet more annoying enemies attack as well.
They are all pretty hard to get but the Whisper of The Worm takes the cake. It usually is extremely difficult for fire-teams of three to finish but somehow a good friend and I after multiple attempts managed to complete it with just the two of us. But there are videos of people doing the impossible and completing it alone. I would argue the Whisper of The Worm Looks the best out of the three. Everything about it is just great and I hope that whoever is reading it has been able to get it for themselves.
Next week we will be tackling the ‘Sleeper Simulant’ another Destiny One exotic weapon that has been brought back.
