connor is sweet , ryan thinks. a little awkward sometimes , & maybe a little stiff , but ryan doesn't hold it against him. aside from that , he was nice , & she enjoyed spending time with him that didn't involve the police station. though , she'll admit , she wasn't entirely sure he'd accept her invitation.

were there rules around dating someone who's cases you worked on ?? even thinking that question had made ryan's face turn bright red , hiding her face in the safety of nemo's fur. she was being silly , this wasn't a date , not at all !! they were just ... going to the farmer's market , getting to know each other better. that's all it is !!

& if ryan puts a little extra care into her outfit , that's entirely a coincidence !!

of course ryan's happy to see him. she's happy he decided to show up at all. he probably had more interesting things to be doing than doing nothing here with her. but the fact that he was here ... it made her feel special. & if her face is just a little pink , ryan will blame it on too much blush. at some point , they end up holding hands , & ryan's heart is in her throat. it's been a long time since she's been this close to someone ; it's nice.

it had started raining somewhere around the artisanal honey booth , a light sprinkle at first. it turned into a drizzle somewhere around the seasonal fruit stall , & had become a full on downpour at the homemade bread. nemo was happy to get absolutely drenched , but ryan couldn't say she felt the same. it's not like there's a lot of places to get out of the rain , but they end up huddled under some trees in the nearby park. she's glad everything she's bought was sealed , but her hair was ruined.
