Very special event this week! This is the legendary, fearless, enthusiastic @KathrineSwitzer who was also our talented MC. But so much more that that. Kathrine was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon in 1967 under the initials K.V. Switzer. She's been making things possible for women in running, and running fullstop, ever since then. She also ran the same marathon again in 2017 on the 50th anniversary of that first run - and that time as a sponsored athlete. Her husband #RogerRobinson was the other guest of honour. He's the author of 'When Running Made History', a book that weaves through stories of running all from his eye witness perspective. And he too is an exceptional runner across multiple decades. His running is almost as good as his writing, which is high praise indeed. I had the great honour of studying English Literature with Roger at university. Maybe seeds were sown then about the possibilities of running for me. He certainly gave me an enthusiasm about life and reading and writing.
