I don’t think it’s acceptable for cosmetic uses. We don’t NEED cosmetics and if people want them they should take the risk themselves rather than making animals suffer for it.
Which do you think is more likely to happen, people stop using cosmetics or stop testing on animals?
As long as it's in the public market, it should be tested through the proper channels. There would be no point in putting the hundreds of people it takes to test each products lives at risk just for the animals. Think about how many of these products do actually turn out to be harmful to skin or soft tissue which we wouldn't be able to tell through initial testing. That harmfulness would then be in turn passed on to humans if we skipped out the animal stage.
I just think if it turns out to be harmful then it's a lot more acceptable to humanly put down the animals and stop their suffering than either humanly putting down the people to stop their suffering or have to have them suffer through medical care.
