How code kills
Ashif Shereef wrote this article on Medium, and it's well worth reading. Excerpt from that article:
"What['s] actually broken is, the way we write software. Not software itself. The tiny bits of ones and zeros that we feed into an IDE, do exactly what they are told to. A software bug that evolves into a catastrophe is not the inherent flaw of the code. Code just works the way we tell it to. Mess with their semantics, they can kill someone, do them right, they can be your savior on a very unlucky day."
It's a point we will need to remember, especially as more systems automate. (Do keep in mind that if you don't want to create an account (free or paid, either will let you read the post), you can still read the article above the large annoyance bar, but it's pretty much one to two lines at best.
