Last night I planned to go to the movies with my friend & my mom. So we look online for the movie times and we arrive at the 9:00 showing of Lucy. We walk into the movie theater, and there’s nobody there. The doors are unlocked, but there’s no one in the theater. So we walk around and look in the theaters to see if we can find someone, but only a few are occupied. There are no employees anywhere. We were kind of freaked out and thinking stuff like “what someone tied them up and they’re holding them hostage in the back room or something?” So we explore the ‘employee only’ areas, and they’re all empty. so at this point I decide to call the theater and see if anyone answers. By this time it’s 9:30. We here the phone ring for a bit, and a guy answers, obviously using call forwarding. I question him about why there aren’t any employees in the theater, and he says they are closed. I ask why there are customers in the theater still, and he said that they purchased tickets for shows before 8:00 when they close. I asked why they have showtimes at 9:00 and 10:00 on their website, and the guy stutters a bit and says something about the times being incorrect, then hangs up on me. So I’m seriously pissed off. If you’re closed, why are there people in the theater, why are your doors unlocked, and why aren’t there any employees? You can’t expect people to come and go safely without there being any authority. People could totally ransack the place, and you wouldn’t know because there are no employees. It’s just not safe. So we left eventually, and went to another theater to see the same movie at 10:30. On our way to the other theater, I call the first theater again, this time to question them about their reasoning for not having anyone on duty whilst people are still using the theater even though it’s “closed”. This time someone picks up, doesn’t say anything, and there’s a bit of ruffling and breathing on the other end. So I’m like “hello….?” And no one responds. So I scream, “oh yeah, YOUR PHONE LINE EMPTY, JUST LIKE YOUR THEATER.” And hang up. My mom slapped me and starts cracking up and so did my friend lol. So moral of the story is that businesses suck and I’m probably gonna write an angry letter to the manager.
