Unsigned pots were not intended to be fired. As part of the training, pots are made during the week and then destroyed so that the clay can be reused the next week. Repetition is key when learning to wheel-throw pots.
We all keep a few motivational pots aside, to remember the weeks when things were going well. We had the unexpected opportunity to give a few pieces a first firing, so we hurriedly dusted off the less crooked of them.
