What’s up y’all? Okay... I have teased that I was going to launch something today and hinted that it was something to do with a project that I worked on called Project: Vanilla Truth, which is a book based on the site. I had a plan to use today to launch it. So, what happened?

A monkey wrench.

Usually, a monkey wrench used as a metaphor is supposed to be sabotage. But sometimes, it can just be the tool you need and you tripped on it. The monkey wrench I’m talking about is the Shorty Awards. 

If you guys have been following me closely, you know that I’m one of the co-creators of a little hashtag called #BlackoutDay and a now 1/2 of the @theblackoutofficial . 

And in order to fully understand, a video can explain it:

It’s still “new” but it’s already a recognized honor and there are a few ways to get nominated. We got nominated simply for being active! After all, when you trend on Tumblr all the time on the days you made trended and you influenced all Twitter to trend, it’s not too hard to imagine that you grabbed the attention of people!

The way that this “monkey wrenched” my plans is that it was announced Tuesday, Jan 17. We got an email to say that we’re nominated and of course @marsincharge and I got so excited! And then, I forgot that I had tweets and posts queued up to tease the Kickstarter for the book. 

Now, I know it’s possible to promote two things at one time. However, promoting my book while asking people to vote may steal our thunder. We have until Feb 16 to come up with as many votes as we can. My Kickstarter was going to last until Feb 20th if I launched it today. The overlap would make it hard to promote the Blackout, the Shortys, AND the book. And some of you may be thinking “wait, the Blackout is a one-day event. What else do you have to do besides reblogging dates?” Is it? Is it? I’m a team member, there are things in the works that I am NOT at liberty to say and in a few weeks, you WILL understand why I decided to shelf the book for a bit! 

This wasn’t an easy decision for me, but the sake of the Blackout, one of my projects that I’m so proud to be a part of, I need to postpone the book. I’m just following the rules of marketing... focus on one big release at a time. 

Don’t worry! The book is actually close to done and it will be a real thing! I am going to postpone the campaign until April/May. Yes, we will be promoting another Blackout (June 6th), but I won’t have to be campaigning for votes, shaking virtual hands and saying “awwww” to baby photos. (Actually, I say “awww” to baby photos all the time... so that updated cliche line didn’t make any sense.)

I know... this is a tad disappointing. But I hope you guys understand why I’m doing this! 

2787 days ago… or 7 years, 10 months and 9 days ago, I retired the W3NK name. My reasons then were simple: I was being pigeon-holed into a stereotypical Angry Black Man™ and I decided that going into the first term of post-election 2016 that I would start to be more of myself and less of the angry persona that you're used to. You can see the original retirement post here.

In retrospect, retiring the name and transitioning to “Thought Remixer” might have been a lot for some people. But it was to help me move forward in a way I couldn’t when I’m getting offers from people to “play” a part that isn’t 100% me. 

So, why did I bring this back from the dead? I needed an outlet and the problem with using my own name as an outlet is that people don’t fully grasp that it’s a facet of me, not my whole being. But also… doing this strictly under my own name is not enough. I need to put some weight to it. What better way to do it than a domain name, a tumblr name and a destination than this?

Just one small problem. Years ago, through my own neglectance, I lost the “.com”. I had it, I forgot to pay for it, and now that domain name belongs to someone else. The domain name was important to have as I don’t want people to think of the blog as part of Tumblr. So, I now own https://WhatWhitesWillNeverKnow.blog - it’s hosted on Tumblr. If someone takes it down, I can always host it elsewhere. (People have tried to take down the blog before, including one “Young Paris”... a person who I still have beef with)

While a lot is going on, I figured “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” All of the old material is here, however, some may be deleted beyond my own control, wither the original authors are no longer around or it may conflict with my views I have nowadays (which I may reblog with some updated thoughts). However, we will be focused on new perspectives and stories. I’m a little older, a bit wiser and I’m here to guide you through the madness, along with curating the best so that we can process the madness together.

I was saying stick to it . Words of encouragement not an attack .

Not every one likes mint chocolate fam . You will find the right people to give you the opportunities you deserve soon . Not the ones who want to water you down .

I don’t see it as “an attack” more like “why would this be worth commenting on”.

I’ve been aiming to change my approach with this blog and throughout the last year, I had, switching up the style a bit and such. People want to hire me, but don’t want the brand associated with it. Hence why I was trying to change the name of it the LONG way.

W3NK was a reddit staple, people who searched for me always seem to want to find some sort of “red herring” and such. And then there’s the people who want me to be associated, but at the cost of turning me into a caricature instead of wanting me as I want to be presented.

So, yeah... I changed the name and have been trying to change up even more, talking about social media/internet safety and other interests, including the Blackout, Mental health along with the social/racial commentary and now, the vlogs and so on.

Well... as some of you know, @whatwhiteswillneverknow is temp not taking any questions. Some of you also know that I’m redirecting the active of W3NK’s followers to follow @thoughtremixer and I’m blogging stuff from there while reposting stuff from there to W3NK to make sure that no one is left out. And some of you even know that I’m writing a book. But as far as explanations about the book, I wasn’t so straightforward. 

So, for accountability purposes... (or just release the damn book already) I decided to let you know the road to this book. 

The “Project: Vanilla Questions” (which is NOT the final title of the book) is going to be a resource book that will be written in a Q&A format. This means that instead of a front to back reading, you’ll be able to read it from any page, get answers to the most typical of questions. 

This isn’t a simple “take the best blog posts and put them in the book” but a rewrite of everything. 

The book will be finished by Jan 31, 2017. But when will it be out for public consumption? Well, after writing, there’s going to be a lot of editing done and we need to make sure everything passes the mustard, even the facts. Afterward, it will be put to the presses and then ebooks AND physical copies will be pushed. Once published, the blog will then become support for the book and while some conversations will be launched, it will be based on promoting the book. So, no more BlackoutDay announcements or participation. No more reblogs of other people’s content and making them viral. No more fun posts.

And sadly, more defending. There will always be that.

However, @thoughtremixer will still be the place that @whatwhiteswillneverknow was trying to be for years and more! So, it’s not the end of a blog, but the beginning of something more. 

So with that being said, now that I put up a public notice, this means I better get to work. I’m not going to be posting much for the upcoming days and I hope you guys would take the opportunity to actually... push me to finish this. 

I’ve been saying for years that I will do something and well, the time is here. So, just bare w/ me for a bit and I promise that this will be worth it.

So, if you’re kind of sad about this, I hope you understand that I want to do this and hope I’ll get your support. If you can’t wait, just wait a bit longer. If you’re one of those who said “you been saying this”... yeah, I know. Thanks for your patience.

And if you’re from reddit and you can’t take me seriously... well, now prepare to trash a book that you probably will never read.

If you take the time to know me, you’ll know that this really isn’t a blog that I post up on often. I make references to the other blog @whatwhiteswillneverknow on more than one occasion. I have more followers on that blog and I tend to post more on that blog than all my other blogs combined. Some of my personal reflections gets reblogged on W3NK every once in a while JUST to remind people “hey... I’m the guy behind this.”

I have a total of 4 active tumblrs, with the other two being @werespectdarkwomen and @welovedarkbeings being the other two. @nukirk is the blog with the least amount of posts, but it’s the only blog where people can expect to see me for who I am instead of the three blogs, where there’s a theme going on.

However, as of late, people know me more on a “theme” basis and expect me to perform on demand, forgetting that I’m a complex person with ideas that can’t fit in one or the other theme blogs. 

But what I’ve done for #TheBlackout is simple. I helped rally support for it. There were no place for central informatin. I gave logos for at the time I thought was a “one time event” instead of a “monthly event”. The many things I’ve done for #TheBlackout has been noted in the masterpost. Here are a few notables:

The “tremix.us” domain, which is part of some Blackout material is actually own by me.
